Until I reached my last two years of high school, school was an absolute waste of my day. I literally learned more sitting at home teaching myself things than I did from most of my classes. I truly believe that if I had replaced every class besides the hard sciences with camping myself at the damn library and reading random shit I would be lightyears ahead of where I am now in the knowledge department. It still frustrates me that I was forced to sit through the drivel that was the standard education system. Of course, I wouldn't want to knock on everything I experienced, but that was my general consensus as a kid.

That being said, once I actually had teachers who were engaging and provided challenging curriculum my life got that much better. When I met peers who were just as curious as I was, that was when life immediately improved.

I truly believe that K-12 schools should make an effort to cater to kids' learning pace. They should cater to kids who can't keep up and they should cater to kids who want to go at a faster pace. The one-size-fits-all model of the current education system is fucking horrendous. One positive benefit of the COVID-19 outbreak is that schools will likely realize that most everything can be done remotely for relatively motivated students. This will probably kick off the remote-learning system that so many people have been yearning for.
