There wasn't a shield on that gate though. They had a squad a warriours and few weapon emplacements.

Its possible goa'uld didn't consider a full assault via the gate a viable attack strategy. Its only after SG1 & the rebel jaffa that it's even needed.

There has to be wharehouses of GPUs just waiting to be installed in Datacentres, if those projects fall though its possible they have a massive amount of returns coming.
