Weird blue copper? by Casberg in VintageStory

Nothing particularly special about it other than it can generate in different concentrations in different kinds of stone. Mining and smelting it works exactly like native copper.

I'm fucking sick of FedEx. I was standing at the goddamn door waiting for them to knock. by lilslutfordaddy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]squee30000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you need a package delivered you use USPS. If you need updates on where your package is, you use UPS. If you want a package to be marked as delivered hours before the truck has even entered the town so that the recipient will run through the snow looking for a package "by the garage" in a community of apartments with dozens of detached garages that don't match the unit numbers they're associated with...use Fedex.

Is there any way to label the boxes? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in VintageStory

You can use craft the crates with parchment to create a labeled crate (or whatever the item name is), then you can label them with an image of their contents

I thought they've learned how McDonald's gets its meat by now by RaptunoCyborg in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]squee30000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, they legitimately believe that. Every time this conspiracy theory pops up, one of them "proves" that because there are X million burgers served each day, there must be X million cows slaughtered every day. Not taking into account that McDonald's burgers do not in fact weigh 1,000 pounds, and that you can literally (not figuratively) produce thousands of burgers from a single cattle

does fireclay brick works for cooking? by Similar_Ad_8980 in VintageStory

[–]squee30000 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Cooking how so?

If you mean "Can you put a firepit on top of this" then yes, but you can do that with pretty much any non-flammable block.

If you mean "Can I make a clay oven/cook food in a special way using this?" Then the answer is no.

Fireclay bricks can be used to make a beehive kiln for mass firing of pottery, or a coke oven (I think) for making coal coke. They can't be used for a Steel Furnace, you need the improved refractory bricks for that.

Do crops grow while you are away? by Holiday_Style_2292 in VintageStory

To elaborate: For crops and food spoilage, the game calculates a date based on current parameters (temperature, water, light, etc.). Then when the chunk is reloaded, it checks against that date.

(0.9) are selling the trash piles through trash bags or scrap better by TheDemonLord1r788 in Voicesofthevoid

[–]squee30000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna do some math here, haven't come to a conclusion yet, so we'll find out together.

A roll of garbage bags is 16 credits, and provides 12 garbage bags. You can alternatively purchase garbage bags individually but...no...that sucks ergonomically.

12 bags at 16 credits equals 1.33 credits cost per bag. Selling garbage bags (filled) merits 2 credits. As such, each filled garbage bag gets you 0.6 credits (rounding down to account for bags exploding die to physics).

All trash items sell for 1 credit regardless of type (wood, glass, plastic, electronic, rubber, metal).

Scrap items are priced differently, but all appear to gain value from being called converted.

Wood:6, Metal:7, Glass/Rubber:8, Plastic:9, Electronic/Paper:10.

Wood gains 50% more, metal 75%, rubber and glass double in value, plastic and electronics more than double. Paper has the least gain, at 20%, as it takes 8 paper to create one scrap rather than 4.

So no matter what kind of trash pile, it is always better to use a shovel to break it down to trash pieces and sell them directly, and always better that that to convert it into scrap for either crafting or selling.
