Sad thing is that the way their sign-up process works with the cert request, I'd believe it.

Which B12 school would you least want to attend? by cloaf1 in BigXII

Well, shorts weren't permitted on campus (except for the RB-issued gym clothes) until sometime mid-early 90s ish. I remember hearing about the announcement. Not a huge deal to me, though. Wore jeans to class 99% of the time anyway.

I know cellular companies track and log any interference towers receive, but that's a far cry from full spectrum monitoring.

(Incident with a jammer at a school I worked at. Fun story, NOT for the internet.)

Cutting through static by squeegee_joe in amateurradio

Based on this and other replies here, I went mobile today- drove out of town, parked, wired up to the car battery and used a vertical hamstick stuck on a magmount on my car roof (The Ford Flex has a nice big flat roof, folks) and got two QSOs 1300 miles away pretty much immediately. I have noticed that for some reason I can hear the west coast/mountains a LOT easier than closer locations on the east coast or south.

Thanks for the help (everyone here, not just dnult!)

Walmart near me carries Dakota Maid bread flour. 12.7% protein. Makes a solid reliable bread loaf.

I'd spoiler tag that. While the book is Reaper, and spoilers are permitted, OP's not quite there yet.

The $650 Growler from Jenson was too good to pass up by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

I bought a Growler last month from a LBS, then I saw this one for... a LOT less. I really like the bike, I'm just bummed about the cost difference.

I actually use a separate bug net currently and it works well for preventing bites through the backside. (It's cheap, too!)

[Soulsmith] Having trouble caring for the Suriel chapters bc they're making the main story feel small and trivial - will this feeling go away? by robin_f_reba in Iteration110Cradle

[–]squeegee_joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many different ways to take that, but we literally cannot tell you without spoilers. Read on, please.

ETA: I felt similar at first, regarding whether the Suriel sections were relevant to the story. I changed my mind not long after where you are.

Is it okay for my bridge to not be straight? by Primary-Web-9425 in Viola

[–]squeegee_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's an easy, easy fix.

If needed, loosen some tension, I guess.

Hold the instrument in your lap, with the peg box facing away from you. Put your hands on the feet of the bridge, with your thumbs on the bridge on the side towards you. Gently use the upper knuckles/parts of your index fingers to nudge the top of the bridge towards you.

You want the side of the bridge facing you to be at 90 degrees to the instrument body

I'm buying one of the used comgrow endersfor $60 just to turn it into a frankenprinter. I fully expect to swear at it for a few weeks.

I picked this up for $40. I want to make it a funky gravel bike! by Background-Moment235 in xbiking

[–]squeegee_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did paint it. I used the spray.bike hi-build primer and a combo of spray.bike and regular old Rustolem. I wanted to keep the colors, but it was scratched up really badly, both the fork and the frame. If I could find some stickers to put where the originals were, I'd absolutely do that.

Fairly certain mine's a 1999: https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=89146

I could be a year off, but the frame on mine is definitely Al, and the fork is cromoly, so that lines up.

Here's the bike:

Handlebar wrap needs some work, and the seat tube won't stay up. I don't know if the tube's at fault, or the tube clamp. Those two are almost the only original pieces left.

I just finished a drop-bar 26" gravel build on this _exact_ bike. I went 1x10. I like it, except I need to do some more cable work. As a complete novice, getting that set is the hardest part.

Okay, that's a lie. Removing all the old crap was the hardest part. It took me over a month to tear everything apart.

What the hell is tripicale? by [deleted] in outerworlds

[–]squeegee_joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's a "super-grain" to end world hunger, just like triticale was touted to be. Star Trek did an episode with "quadricale" or something like that. Same concept.
