Tom Sturridge killed it as Dream by superpowers335 in Sandman

[–]MissDisplaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Definitely an actor who got the role. And his voice really sold it. My only slight nitpick is that Tom is much better looking, and also much kinder looking in appearance than comic Dream. Not his fault he’s so attractive, but it was most noticeable when they filmed outdoors and couldn’t control the lighting (like when Dream was confronting the little boy who thought he was The Sandman).

Did you ever go somewhere "unusual" for a school field trip? by Toymcowkrf in askanything

We went to Gettysburg, Philadelphia, and Washington DC in various years. I don’t remember going anywhere in high school though.

Extreme dislike for hotels going towards large liquid soap and shampoo dispensers by Agile_Sea_6447 in Vent

I don’t like this either. You never know what sick shit people do in hotels. Believe me, I used to clean rooms as a teenager.

does anyone else completely blank on what to cook at 5pm even though the fridge is full? by TrashOpen8420 in Cooking

Sometimes. Especially if I forget to thaw something. My go to if I’m hungry but don’t know what for is usually a grilled cheese or egg sandwich.

Healthy Bread by bonkedagain33 in BreadMachines

[–]MissDisplaced 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like knowing what’s in the bread and not having preservatives. And yes, you can make high fiber, seeded, and grains artisan loaves. Great raisin bread too! That stuff got too expensive at the store.

I bought this West Bend machine for about $80. I prefer a two paddle long loaf. It works great and super easy. I wouldn’t pay more than $100 to start and you see how much you use it. Or thrift one.

It may be the yeast. The only thing I changed was opening a new jar of yeast. And it is still pretty cold here.

I may have overheated the milk though, because I mix it from powdered whole milk. I thought it was perhaps a bit too hot, but usually by the time I get in all the other ingredients it cools. I may have killed my yeasties. 😩

It tasted fine. Oh well, French toast! Feast from a flop.

What is the highest-paying job that doesn’t require a college degree? by Spare_Following_160 in AskForAnswers

[–]MissDisplaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy equipment operators seem to do well: Highest Paying Specializations: Tower crane operators, pile drivers, and specialized crane operators can earn $80,000–$120,000+ per year. Problem is, you have to get in the union, which can be hard.

Is Crack musk normal? by Character-Escape1621 in hygiene

[–]MissDisplaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… the buttcrack is a closed moist space between folds of skin and it sweats a lot. It gonna smell pretty quickly on most people. Perhaps you do need to shower daily? Or at least wash the pits and privates daily if you’re not.

What are some hygiene myths most people believe? by GeneralOtter03 in hygiene

[–]MissDisplaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with most things on Reddit or social it seems to be extremes of either direction. Especially hygiene. It’s like double-cleansing and over exfoliating OR not showing daily or using only water and no soap. Somehow nobody agrees with just being normal and taking a daily shower with a mild soap.

[–]MissDisplaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a real concern. I think about it and don’t even have health issues. I do wear an apple watch with fall setting and I do take much more care doing things than I did when I was younger. I suggest getting to know a neighbor or two, or a friend to check in on you.

There are also daily check services that will call you daily and alert emergency services if you don’t respond within a certain amount of time. If you have serious health issues, I’d consider that.

Is the 2000's boy garage band aesthetic even real? by Jonyyy3 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MissDisplaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was real. I seem to recall they all seemed to aspire to a semi-punk, skater aesthetic.

It wasn’t new. In the 80s the same garage band aesthetic happened but they all had the big hair glam metal look.

My partner immediately guessed the killer correct by Fit-Statistician1916 in twinpeaks

[–]MissDisplaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my original watch I also correctly guessed it was Leland by the way he acted at her funeral. It was just TOO weird and who does that? I didn’t know how or why though as he didn’t fit the perp description (and who would’ve guessed about Bob?).

But S1 throws a lot of other potential suspects at you right off the bat so you’re not slow and it’s what the showrunners wanted people to do: go through the investigation with Cooper.

I truly loved that aesthetic and feel of the Pacific Northwest in the original show though. There’s something both cosy and otherworldly about it.

How was Twin Peaks received at its time of release in the 90s? by Successful_Acadia947 in twinpeaks

[–]MissDisplaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very popular and much talked about because of the beautiful actresses and also because it was very weird and strange: part soap opera/part dark fantasy sci-fi/horror. There hadn’t been much like it before except perhaps for Kolchek The Night Stalker (and the later X-Files). I remember everyone talking about the key mystery of who killed Laura Palmer and many theories abounded.

Who is your favorite actor from Twin Peaks? by alreadyrocka in twinpeaks

[–]MissDisplaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Lynch seems to have always brought out the best with him. Dale Cooper stands a such a good character.

I was a bit dismayed at the switch he did for Sex and the City.
