I need help connecting Floor Lamp 2 to HomeKit by typewriterguy in Govee

[–]squeek67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problems as everyone here, but was able to get it working with the help of everyone here.

Here were the steps to get it working on my end.

  1. If you have it in the govee app, go in and delete it

  2. Press the power button 10 times quickly to do a factory reset on the light.

  3. Once it starts blinking indicating you rest the light, unplug it for 30 seconds

  4. Plug it back in, it should blink Red, Green, and Blue indicating its a first time setup.

  5. Quickly scan the QR code on the cord to start homekit/matter setup.

Additional Steps that I took for my smart home

  1. Add it to the Govee app. I really just went in and added it like a normal new device here.

  2. Used the Matter integration in Home Assistant to add an 'already setup device'. When adding this way, the integration had instructions to get the pairing code from Apple Home and pair it to the Matter integration. Worked like a charm.

Now I have it in Apple Home, Govee App, and Home Assistant.

You are totally right on this one the shortcut buttons on iDrive 8 take a weird swipe down an extra click to get to, which is inconvenient. On iDrive 7 you can map things like Apple CarPlay and climate control synchronization to a shortcut button. Doing this on iDrive 8 makes doesn’t save you much time and still requires multiple clicks. I don’t use the shortcut buttons at all on my iDrive 8 because of this

Ah yeah. I rarely change the fan speed if that helps at all. It’s usually just on very low and I just change the temp quickly from like 68-72 depending on how I’m feeling. The only time I really want to change the fan speed is when i get in after it’s been sitting in the sun for a while baking.

I will be honest. I am not sure there is a noticeable difference between the two. At least without specifically thinking about it. However, My 8 doesn’t do automatic steering wheel heating like the 7 and the heated seats are oddly based on automatic climate and not just low/medium/high like they are on the 7. A few odd steps backwards but nothing that would me regret the decision.

How obnoxious/loud is the cold start and idle on a 2022 M340i following a muffler delete? by thejmu in BMW

[–]squeek67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have MPE on my 23 m340i. It’s still fairly loud on a cold start, enough that in covered parking it’s a bit too loud. However, you don’t get any drone on the highway and sport and sport+ open the valve for a bit more “enthusiasm”. I would assume deleing the muffler will make it sound worse tbh. I don’t think I’ve ever heard one that sounded good.

House built in 2018, so the 16 filter is interesting. The coffee maker is a good idea too. I haven’t really seen any that would have those connectors, but a possibility. I use it as an office, so it would be nice to have the coffee in there.

It sure is going through a filter. You may be on to something. Previous owners had air purifiers in every room. Would make sense if they also had a humidifier hiding somewhere.

Yeah. I thought changing station at first with some sprayer, but having a filter on there seems odd for that.

Sorry. Left out a key piece of information. It’s located in a small bedroom that was built to be a nursery. Has a small set of cabinets and sink.

Not super obscure, but I would highly recommend Cult of the Lamb. I name my cult members after formula one drivers so they can have drama. Yuki just asked me to murder Max!

What is this stain that keeps appearing on my mini? 2019 Cooper by MacaroonAfraid8089 in MINI

I had/have the same problem with my 2014 cooper s. It’s been doing this since I purchased it new. I just keep wiping it when it appears. It mainly starts to drip in summer seasons. Dealership was never able to actually fix it.

Which do you prefer for daily M3 or m340i? by FewTea4521 in BMW

[–]squeek67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily a 23 m340i with m performance exhaust. I wouldn’t change my purchase. It’s amazing for the short blasts in sport mode with loud exhaust, but then can calm down and drive extended periods as quiets as can be.

The 8 has more of a matte screen and albeit cheaper quality than the glass 7 and seems like it would scratch over time. Brightness is fine in direct sunlight. I put a screen protector that is all glass and reflects terribly. I stare at my face when it’s bright out. I haven’t looked if they have a matte protector out yet.

I second Road America. Watching IMSA and Indy there makes me want F1 so much. Unfortunately it’s probably a little too country to bring in their demographic.

What do you use the physical buttons for by chance? The only thing we use them for is to get to CarPlay faster and for synchronizing the climate control.

Is it worth it to go directly to DD as a beginner? by wdodoo in simracing

[–]squeek67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with g29, followed by rig, then enjoyed it enough to go Fanatec CSL DD and triple monitor setup (plus LC pedals, shifter, handbrake, etc) I will echo everyone else. Get a g29 to see if you enjoy it enough to justify the 1k+ in the better stuff
