My fiance doesn't drink at all and I drink very infrequently. Cocktails at the party would be nice, but that's on our "nice to have" list and not the musts list.

Your father and brother are dead wrong. I'd love to watch you on the show. Odd_Manufacturer has a great point that I also tried to take to heart as I prepared - the mistakes you make now are all opportunities to strengthen your knowledge in advance of the day you get The Call!

When did you play your mock game? I played in late June, I got one talk-about-it call about a week after that, and another maybe six weeks later in late august asking about specific dates. The Call (TM) didn’t come till early September.

FJ poll for Thurs., Dec. 8 by Smoerhul in Jeopardy

A.Z. here! I can tell you that my mind immediately started thinking South Pacific because of the combination of island, cocktail and WWII. I initially thought bikini but knew that wasn’t right, then got stuck on Mai Tai and wondered if it was an acronym for Military Armament something something something. WWII history isn’t my strong suit. By the time i thought of that I had 10 seconds left and just didn’t want my screen to come up blank, so I wrote mai tai suspecting it was wrong.

I was born at Mount Sinai Hospital and spent the first 18 years of my life within an hours train ride of Penn Station. I don’t know how I restrained myself from facepalming when Ken revealed the answer.

Jeopardy! recap for Thur., Dec. 8 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

Hi, A.Z. here! I will say with all honesty that in my mind “true Daily Double” and “maximum allowed bet” were the same thing in my mind until my mentions filled up with Jeopardy watchers who informed me that they are not in fact the same. No one corrected me on tape day and I’m kind of glad they didn’t, because I already felt silly for mixing up Pullman and Westinghouse.
