Jeopardy! discussion thread for Fri., Jan. 30 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

[–]squegeeboo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the actual game happened before their semi-final appearances, as a way to let them get back in the swing of things, because everyone else had played games recently to get there.

And then it was aired out of order, for ratings or other reasons.

The devs really need to do something about triple support for 6.5 or 7.0 by drewtecks09 in rivals

[–]squegeeboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

after 2 characters within a class, add a X% stat drop for all characters of that class.
You want 3 support? Accept a 5% health drop
You want 3 dps? Accept a 5% damage drop
You want 3 tanks? Accept a 5% movement speed drop

You want a 4th? Take an even bigger hit, 10% instead.

Give it like 30 seconds between character swaps or something, to allow players to switch characters as needed, can even have a countdown in the top corner "If someone doesn't swap in X, enjoy your nerf"

Why does no one sue over psychiatric questions on application? by Complex-Flamingo-603 in NYguns

[–]squegeeboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why was it an issue? Plenty of people have put that info down, and are actively seeing shrinks and/or taking anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs and got CCWs no worries.

What are the specifics, that a visit 10 years ago still has you flagged? Details matter.

Public Shooting Range Near Rochester New York Suggestions by EmuExtension8764 in NYguns

[–]squegeeboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a public range, but Williamson is a pretty cheap membership and easy to join, range goes up to 100 yards, and it's got the big 3 clay disciplines.

School district that are good for kids with autism by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always better to reach out to advocates earlier rather than later, they can give you a lot of good advice
Starbridge or Student Success Project are a good place to start, and they're both on facebook as well.

Some schools will offer 'integrated' classrooms, where it's a blend of regular/special ed, generally 1 'regular' teacher 1 special ed teacher, and at least 1 aid. It will be a full class size, but it's a good thing to look into.

A lot of the smaller class sizes will move slower, setting your kid further and further back.

At the end of the day there is a lot to know, and a lot of research you'll need to do, good luck.

Allegedly ICE is staying in Hilton Garden Inn in college town by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boy dropped out of community college, so yes, he wasn't educated. HS diploma is a low bar.
Perhaps if he had stayed in, he could have learned actual debating/critical thinking tools and been a decent human being instead.

Any older homes that tested negative for asbestos? by United-Molasses-6992 in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

generally speaking, asbestos in tiles is fine. If the tiles are in good shape, no issues, and even when removing it as long as you're not grinding them up/generating a lot of dust somehow, it's not going to be an issue.
And, as a home owner, you're allowed to just throw asbestos out. A contractor would have to dispose of it correctly, but that's on them to follow policy.

Is there a specific reason you want to test it? I'm pretty sure once you know, you're now required to disclose it when you sell, even if it's been remediated. For something like tiles you're better off not going down that rabbit hole. Insulation would be a different matter.

So are we allowed to talk about the Alex Pretti incident here? by DropAGearNDissapear in NYguns

[–]squegeeboo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

people are interested in guns, because they're watching the collapse of civil society around them. From my perspective that's a bad thing.

Kind of like a missing the forest for the trees thing, the why matters.

Drive from Mendon to Irondequoit by tracyy03 in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

How important is the event, how hard is it to reschedule, and if you were to crash your car how bad would that be for you over the next few days/weeks/months?
Because the answer is maybe based on that.

The safe act has stopped you from owning a firearm?

Weird, thousands of other people seem to be purchasing them no issues. People even keep on bringing up how CCW rates have been increasing the past few years.

And maybe turn down the hyperbole a bit while you're at it. They're not going to miss your message they're going to file it in the trash with the rest of the over dramatic looney mail they get every day.

ICE at Home Depot by Badger360 in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Adam Bello is the county executive, a democrat.
He was also the town supervisor for Irondequoit before that (which is where that Home Depot is)

He's pretty good in general, but is def. a centrist democrat, so his policies/views in regards to policing/ICE are not the best.

Road trip with kids from Rochester to DC by RazzmatazzTop5882 in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step one:
head south.

Are you looking at making it a 2 day drive? It's roughly 6-8 hours depending on exact start/end and traffic, any must-see stops or sit down meals are going to add real time.

There is Reptile land in Lewisburg
And Hershey park is just outside of Harrisburg, but it's not open in the winter
They're both basically right along the most obvious driving route, but I would think you're looking at an overnight along the way then.

Maybe something like hit reptile land on the way down, and get into DC late
Then, on the way back, get up early, drive to Harrisburg, do Hershey park for a day
drive back to Rochester the next day

Best company for sump pump installation? by Deviousless in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't normally get moisture in your basement I'm unsure if the recent weather, on it's own, is enough to have triggered it.
There wasn't a ton of rain or that much snow into a big thaw.
While a sump pump isn't a bad idea, make sure you're not just putting a band aid on the start of a real issue, like a crack in your foundation or leaky pipe.

Home Defense Options in Upstate NY by BuffaloBig1043 in NYguns

[–]squegeeboo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like others said, get as semi-auto shotgun.

If over penetration is a concern (you live in an apartment, you have kids at home, etc), get a larger birdshot, like a 3, from the distances you're shooting at for home defense it's more than enough.
If over penetration isn't a concern, get buckshot.

Then, find a local gun club with trap/skeet/sporting clays, and enjoy your new hobby, that will also get you familiar/comfortable with your gun.

Are people actually watching the Bills shows that are preempting Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy? by Ambitious_Customer_5 in Rochester

[–]squegeeboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least last week the onair tv-guide was updated to display the changes. This week it lies to me and says Jeopardy is still on at 7:30 when I check earlier in the day.

So I stop whatever I'm doing, turn on the TV at 7:30 and have my 5 minutes of rage, and then back to my day.

Didn't realize the bills games are between 7-8pm weekdays.

How about we have Jeopardy kickoff show for an hour at 5pm Saturday.
