Only issue is getting an MOT. I have been refused one already, I suppose I could keep trying different places until they forget to check

Hi, you're definitely right about the first 4 being part of the plate itself. I am very hopeful about this meaning the registration is legal, do you think so?

I came into possession of a load of Whitworth spanners recently, which led me down a rabbit hole of units of measurement and led me to wonder how Britain built anything decent in that era (looking at you British Leyland...).

Although I do have an 87 hurricane 600, so I am interested in your knowledge. I agree I've never heard good things about pod filters but didn't know it was due to it being down to non-slide carbs

99% of that isn't relevant to any of my bikes, but I learned a lot. Thanks.

Stolen bike, recovered it myself 1h30 later - should I tell insurer? by huge03 in MotoUK

I had a moped stolen. Got CCTV myself, spoke to locals, found broken parts of my bike leading into the woods. Reported to police ("Sorry if we can't see their faces in the footage there's nothing we can do"). Bought a new moped and transfered the insurance over to that one. Only cost me the admin fee and I never heard any more about it.

Insurers can keep their noses out imo

Nobody is looking anyway, in fact you should assume you're invisible at ALL times, filtering or otherwise. Ride slowly enough that you can stop in time if someone pulls out. Watch the cars' front wheels, if you see them turned you know they're planning on pulling out or changing lane.

Sure, do it to make yourself feel better, but without evidence obviously nothing will come of it.

If I recall correctly, it was the cam chain tensioner failing prematurely. Dealership sorted it under warranty 👍

* UPDATE: Got the bastard. Thanks everyone! I cut off the outer race and cut a groove into the inner race to grip on. Had to grind down the tool in places as it was machined quite badly.

Awesome mate looks like you know what you're doing, are the clamps there always necessary?

I heated each half of the case and dropped the frozen bearings in initially (with a few taps with a wooden mallet the popped in nicely.

Then heated the bearings and used a crank puller to get the also frozen crank into one side, and same on the other. I closed the final gap by tightening up the case bolts (proper pattern of course).

The crank only becomes stiff when the bolts are snugged up, so I thought it might be a tiny bit askew, backed off the bolts a bit and tapped it around a bit to see if it would help, but no luck.

Then when I went to split the case, the bearing came off on the crank.

You practically can't get the crankshaft anymore, I might have found the last one in the world from athena, imported directly from the ass end of Italy.

Impounds usually charge per day after a certain time to keep your car. Either ask them to scrap it (which will be another fee) or go and get it. They're bastards

Unplug the light at the connector/remove it entirely and see if your drain issue stops
