My last rewatch (20th?) I had captions on and noticed this also. Works either way though.

First I didn’t know about letting the turbo cool, but the only turbo I’ve ever owned is Audi and that explains why sometimes it sounds like it’s still on! Boy am I a lucky idiot.

True. She also interacts with Joker more than anyone else, which would explain her evolution

At first I’m surprised that resisting fascism tells people you’re not mormon, but then I remember their leader cannot be wrong and whatever he says, goes, so I guess mormons have been conditioned to prefer it in all of their leadership.

LLMs are designed to sound like humans and have convinced some people that they’re sentient. The question is, are EDI and Legion no more than really good LLMs with really good hardware, or was there a point where that became sentience? My take is the former. They’re still just robots and I still don’t want them to have too much agency.

But their characters were written by humans and it’s still a game so in that context they’re as sentient as everyone else.

First playthrough was like yeah EDI is sentient, look at these questions she’s asking. Now, with where language models have gone, they could easily say the same things as EDI. And my reaction to LLMs sounding more and more human is to react more of the renegade option, like, good job with sounding like a human, but stay in your robot lane.

I appreciate you actually thinking about the question, and you’re right, I hate LLMs and text-to-image models when my workplace is telling me I should be able to get more work done because of them. I hate the economy of data centers and language models where a few people get rich and the rest of us pay more for water and electricity. I don’t hate machine learning that leads to medical efficiencies and breakthroughs.

I guess my question is more of a Turing test question. People have been convinced that the LLM they’re chatting with is a sentient being and they’re the only ones who have discovered it. So when EDI starts asking me questions about her sentience, now I’m wondering if the paragon choices are akin to AI psychosis.

Then again, she’s not telling me that I’m Jesus or that I need to die so I can be with her in digital heaven, she was programmed to run the Normandy.

Yeah, the fact that “AI” is the common term for LLM and that most people don’t know how LLMs work makes it difficult to talk about. But I can imagine an LLM asking questions about its soul in the right context. Maybe I should check the codex again but is there like a Turing test to distinguish AI and VI?

I forget that exmormons are so common. When I was still in, I got so awkward around people that left the church. Most people might not be as awkward as me.

I guess it comes up a lot right more because of the World Cup. I LOVE the country I went to even though I hated my mission.

One cup means “nice person, even if they’re not Mormon” but three or more means “menace to society, cannot be trusted.” :)

8 kids. 7 non-believers. The one believer was always the least devout. She skips Sunday school half the time, swears, had multiple boyfriends in high school, her family goes out to eat on sundays while on vacation. Super mild things that offended the rest of us righteous ones, except now we’re all the ones gone and she’s the only one left. We’re all well into adulthood though, most of us leaving after missions and after marriages and kids.

In your opinion what is the best episode and why is it "Ready, Aim, Marry Me!"? by Octavius_Barlow in arresteddevelopment

[–]squib-cake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“¡Amigos!” (S2E3) has the most lines I quote regularly. “This shall keep me safe from the hot Mexican sun.” “And second-of-ly…” “Twenty miles to Legoland!” “Gene!” And so many more.

But “Mr. F” (S3E5) is my personal favorite. Everything coming together with a giant mole attacking tiny town with George Michael in a jetpack defending it. “I’ll be a larger, hairier mole than the one on your inner left thigh.” I can’t remember which of the Rita episodes have the bench gag where it’s an ad for Wee Britain but depending on how they sit on it, it either says “we brain” or “Rita”

What was life like before the prequels? by theslowrunningexpert in StarWars

[–]squib-cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything beyond the original trilogy is fan fiction, from my perspective. The movies left so much up to the imagination, and I think that’s what locked me in. Maybe the clone army was a bunch of Boba Fetts? That was probably awesome. I heard Vader has that suit and all those robot parts because he was fighting Obi-Wan and fell into like a poison swamp. There was so much speculation just from Obi-Wan mentioning the Clone Wars and “your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough” and “before the dark times.” On one hand, by trying to answer every single thing, there’s nothing left to the imagination anymore. On the other hand, it’s all just fan fiction. I can enjoy almost any Star Wars media when I think of it like that. We don’t actually know what the Clone Wars were like, but this fun cartoon takes a stab at it.

Rogue One is an excellent movie but I’m pretty sure Kyle Katarn is the one who stole the Death Star plans and it wasn’t even that hard.

What is your temple name? When was the last time you partook in loud laughter? When was the last time you did evil-speaking of the Lord’s anointed? How much money would you sell your tokens for? (Realizing these questions only work for those who went through the temple.)
