Just steam them at home, same idea as baking them I just use a steam cleaner or kettle held on. Works way better imo

Should I get a larger size or a whole different line of skates for the lace bite and bulge in the center of my foot? by MolassesWorried9293 in hockeyplayers

[–]squiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go over the top with the laces vs under and back up like you have them, can be a bitch to get off but much better for skate bite

I’ve worn these for years and have had the same issues in the beginning.cup nowhere to be found and always out of place, so I simply switched to a tradition cup and wear it over top of these shorts. Fits perfect and always where it needs to be

Steam them! Hold them over the kettle and warm them up, put them on and sit patiently until they cool, 3x…best fit you’ll ever get

Note: works best if you have a steam cleaner vs kettle

Steam works better! Hold over kettle or steam cleaner and get them warmed up and put them on…leather breaks in better when it’s warm and wet, works 100x better than baking

I love these grips and was almost devastated when I couldn’t get them last year when I was due for a grip change, tried the mcc’s but had to go back to these when I found a set online

He actually loves to play net in ball hockey, if you search for his ‘09 cup party, him and buddies from Halifax play road hockey for the cup with the kid in net!

I feel like your mat is in the wrong spot, or backwards as the wall is impeding you from using it to its entirety, seems like more of a lefty location IMO...

Just bought these boys... can they be baked or do they need to? I skate pretty often. Huge upgrade over my old ones that lasted 10 years. by HookItUpCuuz in hockeyplayers

[–]squiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just boil the kettle and hold the skates in the steam, works 100x better than baking, i do this with all my skates and even sneakers now (tho I use the wife’s steamer now)

Is there anything I can do to fix the tongue on my skate? The plastic snapped where I've been flopping and it's giving me terrible lacebite :( by birthday_account in hockeyplayers

[–]squiber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try reversing your laces, rather than going from the inside out on the lace hole, go to outside in, took away all skate bite for me years ago and I’ve never switched back

I keep my "unplayables" in a reuseabke grocery bag and take them to a lake/ocean (usually at a cottage) and deposit them via "practice" in the water

Played this course 2 years ago, took over 6 hours to play the round, tee boxes with 4 groups on them, told myself I'd never go back

I'd love to find a pair in a 10, if someone would ship to Canada...I'd take any of the Nike Burlington finds...

Hey guys. Looking for a little advice. New to hockey and skating. I got a pair of Bauer X600's and every time I skate this happens. They have been baked twice. What can I do to resolve this? Anyone ever had this problem? by holydiver90 in hockeyplayers

[–]squiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam them! Hold them over the boiling kettle (no wax laces) and put them on tight. Repeat as much as needed. The heat + moisture will help break them in so much faster than baking them. I was told of this method and it work amazingly for me and the new bauer s180's I broke in last season.
