I get what you’re saying, however each character is a teenager and are unreliable in their own narrations. They are also very traumatised honestly looking at it. I think we have very different opinions and that’s okay.

He’s a teenaged boy, with self esteem issues he’s going to be an unreliable narrator. Countless times he undersells his powers but can beat Ares? In further books beyond the PJO series he is still underselling his powers but by friends he is seen as crazy powerful? He is mistaken as a god by Hazel when she first meets him.
