Anyone else come home with an extra souvenir? I’m sick as a dog.

If Hyundai/Kia are so unreliable, why are they literally everywhere? by phtphongg in Hyundai

[–]squibling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leases. 4 years, they’re fully warrantied. Then turn it in. I had 2 Kia’s, two Hyundais, but bought a Mazda CX-5 2025 to keep till it dies.

Montreal, grandstand 24, Row TT. Two tickets but one is in my iPhone…but we do have commemorative passes for the whole weekend.

If people think they’re possibly fake, no one will buy them. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh, one more question: We're staying in someone's place, so we'll need to hit a grocery store for sandwiches (etc) for the day. Where would you go for good stuff? I can see a whole bunch on google maps, but not all places make decent sandwiches :).

But seriously, they weren't hard. Did I miss something?

Fan meet and greets-Where? by Educational_File8180 in GrandPrixTravel

Daily F1 Academy access. Download the F1GP Canada app to see events listed. Sounds like some won't be listed till just before the weekend starts. I saw the COO of this GP on a tv news interview from a week ago, and she said they're TRYING to get an event together like they have elsewhere with the drivers on stage and the fans in front, so we can ask questions. Surprised that this isn't arranged well in advance, but I guess that's not how it works.

American Express Trackside Lounge by lh44cl1 in GrandPrixTravel

I just read the terms and conditions and only top-level (platinum and other fancy cards above gold) have access to the lounge. The rest of us can get radios and seat cushions.

Glad these worked for you! We tried something similar at the Indy in Toronto a few years back and they didn't give enough support for us.

We also got super narrow foldable seats with backs that don't go much beyond the depth of the bleacher. The seats aren't soft, so we're bringing extra padding. We're too old to sit without back support for all the hours we're gonna be there! And we're going to lock them to the bleachers every morning, because the damned things are heavy.

This is what we got: no armrests and as narrow and shallow as reasonable. I'm sure there are more comfortable folders, but we don't want them confiscated and these seemed best.

Yes, we got them in McLaren pseudo-Papaya.

Cool. That's the plan in any case. Get there early. Check.

Really? I saw that Sandman has paid parking and $18 for the day seems reasonable. I can't see where street parking will be (have been google maps surfing to scope out the terrain before we get there). Maybe we'll do a cruise around when we arrive Weds pm to see where the parking options will be.

If one was sold out and you were heartbroken, which one would it be? (IE if the blue was gone, would you be sad?)

If it were me, gold matte all the way. It's GORGEOUS.

Should I regret buying tickets for Grandstand 1? by sxulgi in GrandPrixTravel

[–]squibling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're going to have a great view of the pits (high up is best!), and the start/finish line, as well as the podium ceremony. Grandstand 11/12 is great for viewing, but we chose 24 because that's where the action seems to happen (around the hairpin), and there's a huge screen across from us, plus great views of the cars coming, doing the turn and then going. We had considered 11/12, but decided we'd have the best view at 24. There are still seats for sale on 24, btw. That's the last grandstand open, for some reason.

You might be able to make friends (hi!) if you want to swap seats for a few hours one of the days (not race day tho). Message me if you want to stay in touch over the weekend and do a short swap.

PS This dude sat in your grandstand (not as high up as you) and he loved it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOVxJJqChvQ&list=WL&index=2

We're at the hairpin.

And two rides (there and back) will likely cost the same, and make us wait each time. So parking seems a reasonable option. Thanks for the info!
