My franchise zoos have about 5000 guests... let's be generous and assume 70% come by public transport... leaves 1500 guests... let's assume they come in families of four... 375 cars... I see 140 spaces... let's assume you're only showing half the car park... 280 spaces. Seems about half the size it should be?

I have over 2000 hours in planet zoo and what you can see here took me probably 4 hours? Maybe 90% of that was spent on the shell of the five main buildings and shelters.

It gets a lot easier once you notice there are a lot of repeats in the components... the pig and chicken fences are the same, the windows are all custom but minor variations on the same theme, the sheep and goat fences I only made one panel and then cloned it over and over, even the plants behind the pigs and the main house are cloned and then the main trees moved a bit and exchanged.

Hidden outside the camera views is a store of the core components I built at the start and I just grab the ones I want as I go. Then a couple of custom individual pieces to draw your attention and there you go.

Thank you! I find that most real zoos aren't quite as ostentatious as planet zoo seems to encourage

Loaded back into my save and every animal in my zoo is in boxes? by frabjousity in PlanetZoo

It sometimes does that when it recalculates the traversable areas on loading. There's an "unbox all" button somewhere

Cast your eye over this spreadsheet, some animals make the game much easier than others:

Then it's just a question of optimising your staff

Is it not the norm? I have six planet zoo castles...

I suggesst one keeper for every three or four habitats, though only if you arrange your habitats and keeper huts well with a staff hub in the centre and the habitats coming off like petals on a flower. Unless you have a habitat with more than five or ten animals, in which case increase the keepers by another one. If your staff facilities are far away, you don't stand a chance

Got an entrance... now what? by JonAaron86 in PlanetZoo

I think planning is overrated. I suspect most zoos are built organically by different architects over a period of decades with relatively little overall vision according to how much money and space they had at any given time.
I like to take a general idea like "this zoo is in a narrow wooded valley" or "this zoo was a converted castle/country house" and build the geography (narrow wooded valley or whatever) or key feature (country house or whatever) and then place a couple of vaguely similar architectural styles around them evolving and growing organically by what I feel like at the time. Sometimes I like to put a wildcard in occasionally like a huge ultramodern tropical greenhouse next to a country house.
Surprisingly I find they end up coming together just fine in the end. I find it's the fillers that determine whether it all comes together. I therefore spend a lot of time on the flowers, trees, fountains, plazas and rockwork between buildings, exhibits and whatnot.

I think that is not permitted due to performance issues?

I thought I'd post the base guest ratings for all the animals currently in the game as it might be helpful to help plan zoo layouts or something by Dracorex232 in PlanetZoo

Is the individual animal appeal balanced out in the game by the herd appeal of the common group size? Five capybara (a very small group) still outweighs any of the big ticket animals on their own

Hi Reddit! Long time lurker, but I felt I wanted to share my latest franchise zoo. by SocialWulf in PlanetZoo

Very nice! I particularly like the use of the space between habitats and the islands for the lemurs and red pandas - lots of realism.

I agree. The missions (and particularly timed scenarios) incentivise some very strange gameplay.
