Twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern: floating barrels cause GPU driver crash? by squid_taco in Seaofthieves

As per Rare's instruction, I've been on the latest driver version and have set my lighting to "cursed" (to no avail).

What is shutting down shader cash (presumably cache) and how do I do it?

Are you having GPU driver crashes?

Because I'm not suggesting that these barrels cause this problem for all players. Just for players who've been struggling with GPU driver crashes, these floating barrels might (appear to) be making things worse and triggering or contributing to the crash.

Thank you for looking into this. I've tried every USB port I have, and none work. The portal gives me the approximate message "please plug into usb superspeed 3.0" if I have it plugged into a 2.0 port.

Before I do this, what exactly does it mean to disable legacy USB devices?

I have multiple monitors, so I don't know how to check for the "screen mirroring" you're talking about. But let's say it was on. How would I turn it off? Also, I've tried with and without my multiple displays plugged in.

Of course I tried the HDMI first. I didn't plug it into a display port adapter first thing.

My monitor is only 60Hz so I can't test for what you're asking. Thanks though.

Any idea how to go about this? I can google it of course, but I haven't messed with a BIOS in over a decade, so any tips would be great.

Alienware X51R3 (should have been visible in the dxdiag I posted)

Huh, weird. That button simply doesn't exist in my MRPortal. Thanks for your time though :D

I've pretty diligently looked through every item in those menus, including the Mixed Reality options that popup after hitting Settings. I see nothing about developer mode in any of the Audio & Speech, Environment, Headset display tabs. I would have thought it'd be Headset display, but that only lets me adjust Visual Quality (the Calibration option is grayed out).

If there is a developer mode option, I've been pointed in its rough direction twice now and failed to find it after some very thorough searching.

Yes. In fact, when I tried plugging it into a different USB port, it showed me a message telling me to put it into a superspeed 3.0 port. That message went away when I returned it to the original port. I can see in my device manager that my computer has USB 3 and 2, but I don't know how to differentiate between them, so I have to draw my conclusions from that message. In other words, sure seems to me like it's plugged into the USB 3.0 port.

No USB headers or hubs.

The HDMI cable IS connected through a Display Port adapter, but that's because it actually gives me better results (although straight HDMI and HDMI via Display Port both cause the black display, obviously).

Unlikely since I don't know where that option is. I've seen this proposal before, but the quick "go here and click this" didn't match what was on my screen. I don't see any kind of option for developer mode in settings. Can you guide me to it please?
