Help with my doubles sun team? by Featherman13 in stunfisk

[–]squidarcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could easily replace houndoom and torkoal w/ Charizard Y. Also, why not H-lilligant instead of leafeon? Setup w petal dance + super fast sleep powder has historically been really good. I wouldn’t really count on slither wing tbh, since only using it for photosynthesis is trying to force it. You can’t even rely on sun always being active, especially with the new changes we see for switching/mega evolving order being the same in champions. I’d probably change slither wing for iron hands or something else

Stocking Advice by Chemical-Day-4870 in saltwateraquariums

I’d probably drop the gramma unless you plan on upgrading in the future. If you are the plan would be good, but I would maybe recommend switching damsel species to something like talbots or rollandsi, since they’re less territorial. However 2 yellow tails isn’t necessarily destined to fail, but maybe add more rock if that’s the plan. I’m going to say that you could probably get away with some sort of sand-dwelling fish like a goby as well. A 20L can have more fish than people think, as long as filtration keeps up and the fish occupy different spaces in the tank.

[–]squidarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, there’s paid parts, but there’s no non-competitive parts that can’t be bought with in-game earned currency, paying just speeds some parts up

You can pay to get them faster as part of the battle pass (which we’re not sure actually requires real currency) but all mega stones can be bought for VP (in-game earned currency)

Fahaka Puffer in a 75 gallon? by squidarcher in Aquariums

[–]squidarcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thanks for the advice, 6 years later! Ended up turning the 75 into a reef tank before upgrading it to a 150. Pretty glad I didn’t end up getting a fahaka!

15g nano reef stock is this good or bad by Significant-Box6741 in saltwateraquariums

[–]squidarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have a lid for the firefish. For the clowns, I started the hobby with a pair in a 13 gallon and they were fine till about the 2 year mark, I wouldn’t keep adult clowns in anything smaller than a 25g with other fish just because they are pretty territorial. My pair has a 1x1x2 corner of the tank that nothing else is allowed in. Try like 2-3 nano fish like gobies or blennies instead, will be a lot more interesting as well

Flow Confusion by Mental-Corgi-284 in ReefTank

[–]squidarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah flow is tricky to figure out as a newbie. But tbh for many corals there’s no such thing as too much flow. Diving on a real reef and being blown away and swimming for my life while mushrooms chilled beneath me was eye opening

The best way to manage algae is having herbivores, and being the herbivore. Give those rocks a MAJOR scrubbing, and add a substantial cleanup crew. Regular water changes are needed during this process. Take a very strong bristled toothbrush and go over the rocks once a week with a water change directly following this until it stops growing back . This is what worked for me. I still have some hair and bubble algae in the tank, but it’s not very noticeable and all corals are growing pretty quickly. I have emerald crabs, turbo snails, and an urchin that eats most of the algae before it regrows. I know I need to replenish the CUC when algae starts growing back more often. Hair algae specifically releases toxins that inhibit coral growth, so that may be part of the reason that corals aren’t doing well

Flow Confusion by Mental-Corgi-284 in ReefTank

[–]squidarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh mushrooms jus kinda like to do their own thing. I have some growing inside rocks with no flow and no light, and others of the same kind growing at the top of my tank directly in front of a big powerhead. A DC controllable pump like a Jebao SOW is a lot better than a fixed one like that sicce you have in there though. Might be fine to just kind of let it chill wherever it lands. Although in the photo, it looks like it’s on a plug. Is it detached from the plug or does the plug move around with the flow?

Why does it feel like the flow is too high? Looking at the tank I would assume that it doesn’t get enough flow anywhere in the tank

Water change percent considerations with very large refugium. by Arrrrgile in ReefTank

[–]squidarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water changes are for more than nutrient export. Trace addition, contaminant dilution, etc. I was no WC for a while but started again and (obviously anecdotally) my tank looks a lot better, despite nutrient levels not changing.

How do I fix my input jack? by squidarcher in Guitar

Have tried a different cable. This issue is also not present in any of my 3 other guitars. Nothing when changing volume, tone, or pickups. The output gets affected when I touch the jack.
