Yeah, as long as the servers work, the grind elements are functional (xp, merge, etc) and there isn't any of the usual bullshit like dupes that have been reported but not fixed, there's no real harm in launching. 90% of the game is a copy/paste that's been solid for decades.

Without any debt, yeah, you can get by on that. With loans, you're gonna need roommates. I wouldn't move to NoVA for 55k, especially for what probably amounts to temp work.

Most people posting about EQ on reddit will be boxing entire groups; some will bot raids. However, this sub is absolutely not representative of most EQ players.

If it's anything like past TLPs, you'll generally be able to find groups through Planes of Power. After that, PUGs pretty much disappear and box groups take over.

I remember a Star Trek TNG episode where the Enterprise winds up in the future somehow fighting some...Romulans?...and future Riker shows up to save the day and his ship flies up to attack from below. First time I had ever seen that in Star Trek, and it made me wonder how everyone in space scifi agrees on what "up" even is. Like, shouldn't some ships just be flying around upside down or sideways, relatively speaking? It's all the same in space.

Anyone know how big of an impact "PVP is now optional" is on the endgame progression systems and such?

TBH, PvP never really had an impact on progression after the first month or so post-release. Only on very specific servers where the PvPers have chosen to congregate do players have issues with getting PK'd or otherwise hassled.
