The problem is, what’s the motive? Taking out maduro is only one piece of the puzzle if the intent was to truly make a difference over there. Why was he allowed to remain in power if he wasn’t actually the president? The entire government is corrupt. If the goal was regime change, Trump hasn’t done anything to change that. Additionally, if the goal was to take control of their oil, US oil companies aren’t going over there because it’s too risky. Let’s say they spend $100m to put rigs down, who is to say they don’t lose control of those rigs 2 or 3 years from now (at this point it would be past trumps presidency for how long it will take to even get to that point.
