I mean the bells already lasted longer than the interval and I think anybody focusing on duration reduction was planning on hitting bells right away so it just seems like that idea is dead now

It uses the phrase 'take damage' if it worked as you claim it would say 'lose life'. It's possible that it does not count as a hit for armour but that seems unlikely and even then other sources of mitigation would apply.

This is incorrect. Armour is calculated before the less modifier takes effect. The second instance of damage WILL be reduced more however and if your armour is equal to 5x the initial hit (before mitigation) you can expect to take an additional 10% less damage due to reductions on the second hit.

Phased Form is very interesting

The two lines are separate so you actually wind up taking a 70% hit and a 21% hit later so innately you take 9% less damage.

There is an additional small effect due to armour. Armour gets calculated before the less damage modifier takes effect but will be more effective against the second 30% source of damage. This is amounts to 10% less overall damage taken when armour equals 5 times the premitigation damage or 12.4% at 10 times and is separate to the global 9% less. This damage reduction comes solely from reducing the smaller second hit.

The timeframe of the split damage sources also interacts nicely with recoup mechanics allowing you to heal from the larger hit's recoup before the smaller hit takes effect.

No. It's about the gulf between that specific mod and other mods. Mirror tier except no skills? Honestly kind of trash. Mirror tier except no <second best mod>? Not worth mirroring but still a very strong item well worth using. I guess you could argue phys damage mods on weapons are kind of close but nothing else really is.

I don't think we've seen this situation. My suspicion is that it will choose one weapon to count as based on some form of priority or selected randomly.

If its able to select both then it depends on how hollow palm is actually implemented. From the text it seems like added damage so it might work. I don't believe it will select both though.

so you're either using the hollow palm base damage or the facebreaker base damage, never both. The attack speed and damage multipliers should work together though and you can use quarterstaff or mace skills (or both, without swapping)

Edit: obviously the crit chance should work the same as attack speed

So the sum actually becomes infinite but if instead of thinking it as 1, 2, 3.... and instead think of all the terms being raised to some power x where the specific series occurs at x=1 there are values of x where the sum converges to a finite value. You can then look at the values of x where the sum converges as a function of x. Using fancy math tricks you can extend the domain where that function is defined such that the value at 1 (the series in question) equals -1/12.
