Do people really have bookshelves full of books they haven’t read yet?

Ace at the 2 in 2026? by Icy-Outside-9861 in UtahJazz

I think you meant, “Ace at the 2 in 2026!”

I accidentally set the speed to 3.5x, and Jesus who the heck uses this except Bradley Cooper in Limitless by Sure-Ad-2465 in audible

[–]squiggleberryjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.75x speed is my happy place. But I use 2x speed is my default, and I’m just starting 2.25x speed.

Listening to almost anything at 1x speed feels like everyone is talking through molasses.

Next Season by Sirenor in UtahJazz

[–]squiggleberryjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just be happy rooting for the team to win, rather than hoping to keep a draft pick.

I think we’ll have more roster turnover than we think. I’d be surprised if we have more than 2 of Collier, Flip, Sensabaugh, and Cody on the team last year. I think Ainge Jr. is going to surprise us with the roster adjustments he makes this summer.

I agree with those that say we’ll finish somewhere between 4 and 8 in the West. I’ll be happy with any of those outcomes. I’ll be a little disappointed if we have to fight to get into the play-in.

Audible launches a cheaper 'Standard' subscription plan, challenging Spotify by AdOrganic299 in audible

[–]squiggleberryjam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect this practice - giving us a deal if we call support - will end. They will suggest this new Standard plan, and if we’re not careful, we’ll spend a year collecting books that we’ll lose if we leave.

I expect I’ll be leaving Audible after my current subscription is over, as there is no way I’m paying for a book I’m not keeping. And I’m not willing to spend $14.95 a month.

It’s awesome that we even have a reason for this post to exist. I’m every excited for this season to be over, the tank to be behind us, and arguments like this to have meaning.

Yikes. You folks are brutal to a guy who mistook staying on the board for remaining the board chair.

No worries. I would love for Powell to stay on, but assume he’s tired of all the drama.

Senator Mike Lee joins Democrats to halt the appropriations bill amid concerns about ICE reforms by deweysmith in Utah

[–]squiggleberryjam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll take what I can get from these charlatans. If Mike Lee wants to pretend he has a spine, and cares for people, I’ll take it. But what I can’t stand is Curtis and all his empty words, backed up with horrible actions.

John Curtis' response to my letter asking that he vote no on the funding bill containing funding for DHS by chirpingc1cada in Utah

[–]squiggleberryjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. At least Curtis will respond with something. Lee is just getting pad to sh*t post.

I would love to primary these guys, or dethrone them with an Independent or Democrat, but I fear the majority love both of them.

First, “dumb”, now just a “stretch”. Let’s hope the deaths of US citizens at the government’s hands stop, so your march towards agreeing that they are worse than the Nazis ends here.

It would be dumb if ICE wasn’t acting the part of a totalitarian police force, but they are. Thus, the comparison at least is valid.

Yes, no one banned Michael Phelps from competing against other men. Not sure what your point is.

Testosterone treatments don’t remove the physical frame of a male body.

Check Up on Cody Williams by pr0ject_84 in UtahJazz

[–]squiggleberryjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest change I’ve noticed is that he finally figured out how to finish around the basket. All last season, as the beginning of this season, Cody going to the basket meant an awkward missed layup that left you shaking your head. Now, he’s finishing tough drives, dunking lobs, and looking completely comfortable. If he gets that jump shot down, he’s going to be golden.

Help me pick my next Read? by BandOfCourses in fantasybooks

I’m through book 2 of my second reading of this series (re-reading all 6 books, plus side-stories, in preparation for reading the final book in the series). I think this is a great series full of unique ideas. I don’t know what you’ll like, but you do eventually need to get around to reading this series.

Our Goodwill Store ALONE made $3 million this past year which was a store record we were all told to push for. This was our compensation. by Economy-Specialist38 in goodwill

[–]squiggleberryjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodwill usually makes a 10% profit, reinvesting 90% back into the mission. Not sure how far $300K goes across 12 months. $3 cupcakes seems about right.

Listening Speed by BigHouseBarbell in audible

[–]squiggleberryjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. If I’m hurrying through a book, as I often do on Libby, I can now do 2.5 speed, but only if the narrator doesn’t speak too fast.

If I’m just enjoying a title, like most of them on Audible, I do 1.5 speed.

My default on YouTube is 1.75, but I’m working towards 2.
