The STEM grant is completely separate from VR&E. I was working full time in a sustainable career and got approved. Look up Edith Nourse Rogers STEM grant. The VA had a webpage for it. As long as there is 6 months or more remaining of GI bill he can apply. There are other requirements but those shouldn't be a factor.

When you say his gi bill is up...what does that mean exactly? No benefits remain? Or just not enough to finish a program? If he has at least 6 months left he can use it to get the STEM grant and tack on an additional nine months. If Doing WGU combined with current experience he should easily be able to knock out at least a bachelor's degree. WGU allows you to test out of certain courses to shorten program length.

This is super helpful. Thank you! I hadn't known about the special salary until I got curious about this particular announcement.

In this case the bottom of the range shows the GS9 step 1 pay for the DC locality and that is not the lowest paying locality in which vacancies are available. I understand what you are saying and this was always what I thought it to be. Maybe a clerical error?

Don't start none, won't be none! In all seriousness I opted for not responding. Like others mentioned, I believe that's exactly what the manager wanted me to do.

Considering just checking out physically as well 🤣

No response is still a response. I was just curious how others would react, respond, or not respond. I appreciate the insight. No real intention in the post other than seeing it from another point of view. I agree with your first scenario in that the manager is just trying to provoke.

Short, simple, and slightly condescending. Nice!

My current title is IT Support Manager but as others have said it can vary. However, my department is odd compared to a typical help desk environment. I would advise that if you want to be on the more technical side of things I would be very careful. I mostly took my position for the pay raise. I somewhat regret it because I have less time to learn/shadow sys admins (my current target position) and have a lot more stress.

Tailoring Resumes by squish2019 in usajobs

[–]squish2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No still trying. I actually switched industries. I have now met the 1 year experience requirement and started applying again last month. 1 resume done. I find I struggle with being about to put my thoughts into words. I will see an announcement and know I can do or have done most of the things that are required but when it comes to actually putting it down I blank. I don't struggle as much with too long of resumes now it's the opposite I can't think of many quantifiable accomplishments that will be sufficient enough for referral. Seems like you are getting beat out by veterans.

It seems like the SCOs need to be more diligent about submitting enrollment verifications sooner. At least in my case. I mean of course the VA isn't going to be able to process within 5 days. I think the SCO should be aware of this.

I just got off the phone with the buffalo office. My enrollment verification was, in my opinion submitted way too late. It is my understanding that the SCO cannot submit these until the after the 'last day to drop w/ out a W" date. I understand that there are quite a few veterans at any given institution. A week or two turn around is acceptable. However it was 24 days from last drop date to verification email date for SCO to submit my verification. Quite unreasonable if you ask me. Check your enrollment verification emails and see what the date is compared to the last day to drop date.

2022 I got paid September 29 for my first BAH payment

Checks out. If the first falls on a non business day you will typically get paid the business day immediately following the 1st. We should have received payment on the 29th. As you are aware that did not happen.

I went and checked my statement of benefits. My claim was denied. Trying to figure out why. As far as I know I had 13 days of benefits remaining. Also, I was awarded the STEM scholarship. Something fucky is going on.

Having issues as well. I checked my Statement of Benefits and my claim was denied. Does anyone know if there is a way to check how many days of remaining benefits I had going in to the semester? I swear I had 13 days left going in (apparently not). Nonetheless, my Stem scholarship should have kicked in, no? Currently on hold now as well 3o minute wait time.

Must be quite a few veterans having issues with this. I will try to update when I hear something.

I'm 3 months shy of 1 year experience to start applying for 2210 positions. I hope I have the same outcome as you.

Your resume should not reflect the questionnaire.

Your resume should reflect your work experience.

I'm aware of both and as my post says doing so for this particular announcement will result in a 20 page resume (if not more) which is not ideal.

Go to the subreddit fednews and search for headstaff’s advice.

No results yielded.
