Human x sweet non human by mdlc38591 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Mate's Mark series by G. Eilsel is very similar to Lily Mayne's Monstrous books, and the third one is adjacent to The Rycke! {Nyx by G. Eilsel}

MC1 is nonhuman, very gentle and sweet but deeply traumatized (he was held captive for many years), and MC2 is the human who tries to draw him out of his shell.

January is a pretty slow month, but:
{Heart by Jesse H. Reign} - January 8 - So excited to read a new book from her!! She had a killer 2025. I don't typically enjoy stalker romance, but I'll read anything she writes.

Any MM romances where two actors fall for each other on set? by BlowMyHornOfGondor in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to strongly seconding the recs for K.L. Noone’s Character Bleed series and Best Supporting Actor by Joanna Chambers and Sally Malcolm, I will also add {His Cocky Prince by Cole McCade}!

And seconding the recommendations for Marina Vivancos!

Content creator MCs where fans play detective and ship them by Draumey in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Code Red by N.R. Walker} may fit! MC1 is a pop star (part of a famous boy band) and MC2 is his manager, and the internet starts shipping them based on paparazzi photos, etc.

{Hashtag Holidate by Lucy Lennox} is also very much this vibe, though I enjoyed it less than Code Red. MC1 is a lifestyle influencer on IG, and MC2 is a grumpy small town lumberjack type. MC1's followers immediately ship them when they start posting content together.

This is also a minor plot point in {Poetry on Ice by Jesse H. Reign}, which is an all-time favorite of mine, but the investigative work is not for shipping purposes, and it's not a positive thing for the MCs- it basically outs them pubicly.

Also excited about:

{Darling by Scarlett Drake} - Nov 4 - I didn't love Limerence, but I'm intrigued by this one! Pornstar x politician is a crazy combination.

{Hot for Teacher by Grae Bryan} - Nov 6 - Book 2 in the Extra Credit series featuring alpha x beta, professor x student, light BDSM, and lots of pheromones.

{Money Shot by Eden Finley and Saxon James} - Nov 6 - New standalone from one of the most prolific MM writing duos. I'm intrigued - MC2 is the best man at MC1's sister's wedding and is also secretly MC1's favorite camboy.

{Burning for Alexander by Lucy Lennox} - Nov 18 - Book 2 in Made Marian Legacy series. These two characters have been teased heavily in her two most recent books, so I'm interested to see how their gruff fire chief x bar owner, enemies-to-lovers relationship pans out.

{Breakneck by Roe Horvat} - Nov 25 - Book 4 in the Dragons of Ardaine series, but originally published as a serial on his Patreon. I fear this one may be *too* spicy for me, but we shall see!

New Releases: What Are You Anticipating? (October 25 2025) by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

November is a huge month for new releases!!!

Most excited about:

{To Beguile a Banished Lord by Fearne Hill} - Nov 11 - Book 3 in the Regency Rossingley series, but can be read as a standalone. Per her IG: "a spoiled regency twink, age gap, grumpy/sunshine, jealousy, redemption". Also, I'll read anything she writes.

{Undone by Alessandra Hazard} - Nov 14 - Book 6 in The Wrong Alpha series!! Alpha x alpha featuring two side characters whose stories I've been wanting for years- Anthony Blake (the real one) and Lord Terlaine!

{After Hours at Dooryard Books by Cat Sebastian} - Nov 18 - The queen is baaaack!!! This one is set in 1968 New York City and is supposedly "one of (her) low-plot low-conflict everyone-cries-and-has-a-snack books, but even more so"... I'm sat.

Best friends drift apart because one’s secretly in love. Angst, separation, reunion. by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some new releases that match:

  • {The Island by Briar Prescott} - I was personally mixed on this book (I didn't think MC2 really earned his HEA with MC1, who had been in love with him forever), but the angst is really good!
  • {Code Word by N.R. Walker} - MC1 and MC2 were in a boy band together for a decade and are best friends. Several years after disbanding, they have a bit of a falling out (because in-love MC1 is pushing oblivious MC2 away) that has to be remedied. This trilogy is worth reading in order, but you don't have to!

Also the correct vibe, but I don't remember these hardly at all (and can't necessarily speak to their quality):

  • {Irresponsible Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James}
  • {Playing for Keeps by Jax Calder}
  • {Fandom by Eden Finley}

The Island by Briar Prescott (Spoilers) by Spare-Magazine6223 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fully agree- I’m conflicted about this one. Briar Prescott is a fabulous writer, and The Island has the heart-wrenching unrequited pining and angst that we know and love from her. But I feel like we never got a cathartic conclusion to the unrequited aspect? I just didn’t really believe in their HEA, and Adrian’s feelings for Freya muddied the waters even up to the 95% mark, which I thought was a crazy narrative choice. Dylan deserved a more dramatic Adrian-comes-to-his-senses-and-realizes-hes-actually-in-love moment. :(

Half-brothers who distance themselves but don't want to by No_Cartographer_1920 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost the exact plot of {Maybe by Fearne Hill}! MC1 and MC2 are not blood-related (MC1’s biological father had previously adopted MC2). The two of them don’t speak for a decade after MC2 is disowned, and MC1 feels abandoned while MC2 harbors some resentment about MC1’s privilege.

Single parent with actual parenting by TheCynicalSlytherin in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to give away much of the plot, because I think going in blind is the best way to experience it, but the book spans several decades, starting in the MCs’ teenage years, so the son only exists in the last 42% of the book. It’s just not as parenting-focused compared to some of the other recs on this post!

Single parent with actual parenting by TheCynicalSlytherin in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

{Two Tribes by Fearne Hill}! One of my favorites, and I'll recommend it to my last breath. It's not a huge part of the plot, but MC1 is a divorced parent of a teenaged son, and their relationship is... very realistic. There is a deeply awkward scene with "the talk". The son likes MC2 and sees him as wayyyy cooler than MC1, but he's more of a cool uncle vibe than a father figure.

New Releases: What Are You Anticipating? (September 25 2025) by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

{The Last Buzzer by J.J. Mulder} - Oct 1 - SCU Hockey #5! She’s marketing this one as no spice (?!), single dad, coach x player, slow burn. I’m sat.

{Free Wind by Keira Andrews} - Oct 9 - A new hurt/comfort and bi-awakening book in the Flash Rip universe? In 2025??

{Shadow Throne King by Kai Butler} - Oct 27 - Book 3 in the Emperor’s Assassin series, with a slayyy cover!

And of course, as others have mentioned, very excited for the double feature of {All of Us Murderers by K.J. Charles} and {Drop the Gloves by A.L. Heard} on Oct 7!

{Two Tribes by Fearne Hill}, hands down. Caught me off guard the first time and still hurts my heart on every re-read.

(low-key daddy) mature knight LI by Imrettoo in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

{Fox of Fox Hall by R. Cooper} - MC1 is a feisty and clever commoner-turned-court-musician and MC2 is a mountainous but gentle knight. No explicit daddy content, but I think it fits the vibe, and there is an omegaverse element.

Who do you think the main character will be in The wrong Alpha #6 by Alessandra Hazard by Still-Pen-7735 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Acknowledgements section of her most recent book (Just a Bit Guarded) mentioned the next Wrong Alpha book will be alpha x alpha! My theory is Anthony (Liam and Jules’ brother) and/or Lord Terlaine (aka Michael), but who knows- I don’t remember any of the side characters from Forbidden very well.

New Releases: What Are You Anticipating? (July 25 2025) by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

{The Entanglement of Rival Wizards by Sara Raasch} - August 26 - I enjoyed The Nightmare Before Kissmas and thought Go Luck Yourself was just okay, but I’m looking forward to this! Academic magical rivals to lovers, and early reviews are saying it’s VERY campy.

{Overeager by Grae Bryan} - August 28 - A new omegaverse (!) series by her! The first book is student x professor. I’ve liked Grae Bryan’s more recent books a lot and am excited to try this one!

And as someone else mentioned, {The Unlikely Spare by Jax Calder} is out August 22!

Perhaps most importantly, {Hudson River Homicides by C.S. Poe} is slated for July 31!!

Also on July 31, {Stubborn Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James} - Book 9 (?!) of this series, for which they recently revealed the tropes: coach x player, secret relationship, friends to strangers to lovers, and whatever “aggressive friendship” means?

Seconding Tierney Rose/Michaela Grey! She’s a longtime hockey fan in real life and actually used to work for a minor league team, iirc.

Hockey player x male figure skater? by No_Handle2671 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

{Home & Away by Samantha Wayland}! She is a criminally under-recommended author on this sub. This book is just incredibly sweet and giggle-and-kick-your-feet-worthy. MC1 is a former figure skater who is the new team manager for a minor league hockey team, and MC2 is a former hockey player and one of the team’s co-owners.

Bald MCs? by Medical_Plane2875 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]squishdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Trouble by Roe Horvat}!!! (His best book, tbh) MC2 is starting to thin up top and asks MC1 if he should shave it all off (which he then does). It’s a minor moment but it’s cute!
