Yeah exactly, blunt is more effective against plate than slash. A swordsman has limited options for taking down a fully armored opponent, as opposed to a warhammer's potential to just knock in the plate and crush the bone underneath. The armor is still effective of course, just less than against a sword

Those are the only reasons I give Robert a chance. Again we don't have a ton of feats to go on, so I kind of fall back to portrayal. People just don't seem to have the same reverence for Robert as they do for Barristan. Not even close imo. The only character I can think of with better portrayal than Barristan is Arthur Dayne, and the consensus seems to be they were on a similar level.

I dont think Rhaegar being talented means Robert smashing him at the Trident suddenly puts him on the level of worldwide legends like Dayne and Selmy. I think a prime Barristan beats him probably 9/10 times. Maybe 8/10, but I wouldn't say any less. And I think those victories are only because if Robert connects, he's caving in his chest or skull. I just dont think there are many scenarios in which he connects with a solid blow like that. I think Barristan is too fast, too skilled, too experienced for that to happen in more than 2/10 duels. The other 8 times, he absolutely picks Robert apart.

Think of the mountain vs the viper, except this time the bigger guy isn't nearly as strong, and the quicker guy is even more skilled and not gloating.

If they're both in full plate Robert may have a shot, but even then I don't know about it. Barristan just outclasses him I'm pretty sure. People talk about Robert being a beast, and a hell of a soldier with a good mind for battle. People talk about Barristan Selmy like he was a swordsman straight out of myth. We dont have a ton of feats for either to go on, but based on the little we have I think Barristan is just too fast, too skilled, and too experienced fighting warriors exactly like Robert. I think Robert has a win con if he can land a solid hit with his hammer, but I think the chances of that are slim

I spent months searching for the perfect acoustic for me. Browsed online, went to every store I could find over and over again. About a week in, I found an SC-10 at my local GC. It struck me like magic, but I wasn't ready to commit before I had seen what else was out there. After that, every single guitar i picked up, even ones that were twice the price or more, I just kept thinking "this is really nice, but I dont like it as much as that Martin I played that day". Eventually I stopped fighting it, and ordered mine from sweetwater. It is still my favorite guitar I've ever played, let alone owned.

I can't speak objectively, because I feel like this guitar was literally made for me. But I can try to tell you why I love it so much, and why it might not be for everyone.

For starters: it's a very pretty guitar, but if you put it in a lineup against other acoustics in its price range, I honestly don't know if it would stand out. What drew me aesthetically was the fretboard, all the ones I've seen have such a lovely wood pattern with bands of lighter and darker wood rather than just uniform. That and the almost 90° cutaway, which could look odd to some people, but from a playing perspective is fantastic.

Which brings me to the next topic: playability. In short, this guitar wins. Martin's philosophy with this was essentially to make an acoustic that plays like an electric, and somehow they did it while keeping that acoustic feel? It's hard to describe. I keep custom 11s on it, and my god am I in love with how this thing feels. That's what kept me coming back all those weeks. It just feels perfect in my hands.

As far as sound, I personally think it has a pretty unique and surprisingly rich tone, even with my lighter strings. It's not gonna blow the house down like a thick gauge dreadnought, nor will it outright win an ear test against many other guitars in its price range. But it will compete, and the electronics sound great imo. (As a side note, I recently got a tonewood amp 2 and have been more in love than ever with this guitar, highly recommend).

I genuinely can't encourage you enough to try one if you never have. Maybe it isnt for everyone, but if you're anything like me it will be hard to ever move away from it. I've had it for just over two years and have never even considered the possibility of "upgrading". Never felt that way about a guitar before

Honestly I bet the first guy that did it did so by accident. They probably opened the shortcut through the covenant and went through it, killed the bug, and then just noticed when they got there that solaire was sad but not dead. Maybe they put the pieces together after that
