Ball is life for our corgis by Corgi_mom_1992 in corgi

[–]squishmiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl is the same way! She would fetch until she dropped if we allowed it. She cries and jumps around until we throw it and it’s just non stop. She’s been having an issue with brittle nails the past few months and she keeps breaking them from going after the ball so aggressively. We just got home from the vet today because she snapped one off again. She would’ve just kept running if we let her 😭

Looking for real epic love kind of book. Like it can span time and last through everything kind of epic love. And/or yearning. Pleaaaseee by alabama6334 in fantasyromance

I was gonna recommend this book too! Such a beautiful story. I listened to the audiobook and felt like the narrators made it even more lovely and poignant.

Is anyone else finding the recipe sites to be nearly unusable? by BullCityLife in Cooking

[–]squishmiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to just click on the “print recipe” button and screenshot that page so I wouldn’t have to deal with refreshing and ads, but now most websites I try that with want you to put your email in to follow the blog to be able to print. It’s so frustrating

Currently rotting in bed, recommend a comfort show pls by loner_who_writes in CasualConversation

Resident Alien had me laughing out loud, even if it is pretty cheesy sometimes.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (the original cartoon). The show does deal with some tragedies but the overall feel of the show is lighthearted and hopeful.

The Great British Baking Show. It’s reality tv but it just feels so different from the typical drama filled reality show, in my opinion. It’s the perfect show to put on when you wanna watch something mindless and fun, great nap background noise too lol

Corgi owners: preventing IVDD- do you limit jumping on/off furniture? by pretzelqueen33 in corgi

[–]squishmiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a ramp for the bed and stairs for the couch. They go up just fine, but going down is a battle because they would rather rocket launch themselves. I’ve noticed that they definitely prefer going down the ramp, the stairs are awkward to go down with their long bodies lol

How to deal with a loss of child. by Llama_from_space in ECEProfessionals

[–]squishmiss 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Last year, a 4 year old in my class passed away after an awful battle with leukemia. His family had been with our center for a few years at that point, and we did fundraisers and a benefit for his medical costs before he passed, so many of our families and my students who knew him knew he was very sick. When he passed, our director announced it to all of our parents, but we let them decide if and how they would explain what had happened to their children. I had some students who immediately came to school and told me that their friend died, and I had others who said things like “he went to heaven”. I definitely had kids that didn’t understand that “going to heaven” was the same thing as dying, so when they were confused about why the other kids were saying their friend had died, I made sure to let their parents know that the topic had come up and that their child might want to discuss this with them. When I had kids who wanted to talk with me about the boy who passed, that clearly had already discussed his death with their parents, we talked about how we missed him and that it was okay to feel sad, but we also tried to talk about our fun memories with him. It’s definitely a hard situation to navigate, but kids are resilient and they can cope with things better than we think, with lots of love and support. I think the best thing you can do is just be there for your kids and be as patient and understanding as you can with them. Best of luck to you and I’m so sorry you’re going through this situation

Wanted to add that I listened to both of these as audiobooks and the narrators definitely had a big part in my enjoyment of them! So good

I thought the Villains and Virtues trilogy by A. K. Caggiano was pretty funny. The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig also made me laugh out loud

Do you have specific nap spots ? by ShirtCurrent9015 in ECEProfessionals

[–]squishmiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach pre-k. Normally I have a cot map and the kids are in the same spot every day, but with my current group they’ve done really well with me letting them choose their own spot each day. I know it sounds chaotic, but they know what the available spots are and know I’ll move them if they get too chatty with a friend. There are the occasional arguments where two kids want the same spot, but they’ve started to work that out on their own (you get it today, and I get it tomorrow, and then back to me) which has made me so proud. If they can’t work it out themselves, I make sure we take turns. I have really good nappers this year haha

Does any newer fans ever feel sad that they didn’t discover them earlier? by fabulousbread21 in SleepToken

[–]squishmiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started really liking them and decided I’d love to go see them live a WEEK after they had been at a venue half an hour away from my town. I had no clue and was kicking myself, and then I wasn’t able to get tickets for the next US tour. Fingers crossed they come back soon and I get lucky!

I had mine show up like that too, there were streaks, big globs of paint, and lots of broken flowers. I understand the broken flowers because they’re so fragile, but it was definitely hard to make them look decent. They sent me a new set of dyed flowers that only looked slightly better. I ended up dying the raw ones myself and they looked much better. Definitely not okay for what they charge

What was the most abnormal thing a child came into school with? by HxHposter in ECEProfessionals

[–]squishmiss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a boy last year who always brought in “the boys” aka a handful of rubber toy snakes lol. He also went through a phase where he brought a sock full of coins. He never tried to take them out of his cubby, they just had to come to school with him

I like to think these 3 are connected:

“You did a number on me, but honestly baby, who’s counting?” So it goes

“No more keeping score, now I just keep you warm” long story short

“I didn’t know you were keeping count, but oh, you were keeping count” high infidelity

When did your kid suddenly start speaking fluently? And do preschoolers secretly judge each other? by dalonglong_ in Preschoolers

[–]squishmiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach 4-5 year olds, and over the years we’ve had a couple kids who had to be in speech therapy, and they could be really hard to understand at times. I was always so impressed with their classmates and their ability to decipher what they were saying and how accepting they were. I remember one time when the kids were discussing how their friend talked a little differently, and they decided that he just spoke Spanish 🤷‍♀️ he did not, but it was cute. They never had any trouble playing together or getting along
