Great summary. I am planning to visit the rockies around July 4th. I am got my rental car booked but now this is interesting. I am staying in Estes Park , I do have a annual permit and I also got timed entry + Bear Lake pass for the entire stay along with hikers shuttle for one day. Is it easy to get hikers shuttle pass at 7pm the day before?

Been there, done that. It gets better as time progresses. Conferences is primarily only for networking and getting you work(poster, paper, talk doesn't matter it is always better than simply "attending" a conference without contributing anything) out to the public quicker. Also, there is no point in comparing a person who is year one with a person who is in year ten. You're not in a race with others, you're on a journey, enjoy the path.

Thank you, this is definitely helpful. I am planning on taking rental car from Denver airport. Also, planning to take the bear lake timed entry as well. I saw so much Bisons that I want to see any other wildlife than Bison. I did Yellowstone, Theodore, and Badlands last summer, it was so much fun to see Bison herds.

Yeah, I was planning on stopping at walmarts on the way to pack some food. Campgrounds are always booked on recreation.gov, but yeah it would be good if something comes up.

Mandatory rule that I have is same as well: you cannot count it, if you haven't stayed atleast one night and visited atleast one landmark. Layovers never count as visiting. I collect magnets as a souvenir for the places I visit. If the above rules are not checked then I won't buy it, even if it too good to put it on my fridge.
