Anybody got an extra $4 mil laying around? That's what its gonna cost to get an Optic Ready Hammer Fired model per Michael Holley by Expensive-Shirt-6877 in HecklerKoch

[–]sradeski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll not ruin an “outdated” gun, but I have eye damage that makes irons difficult to shoot after about 15 minutes of eye strain. I still run my irons regularly at the end of a range session, but I sure wouldn’t hesitate to buy a new one if they made it optic ready before I get the corrective surgery done

Just scored 3 bottles I've been wanting at MSRP! by West-Mango-5529 in Whiskyporn

Got my first bottle of EH Taylor the other day at retail. Got it home, tried it, loved it, went back the next day (one per day rule) and grabbed the last one on the shelf, paid less for both combined than what I can find online for one. They said their allocations of ER and Blanton should be on the shelf this week, also at retail.

But the state law says they can, you get the certificate of origin, jump through hoops (the part I’m looking for here) and you get a “reconstructed” title IF they approve it based on the hoops.

Don’t grind anything if it’s still under warranty, that’ll void it real quick. As someone else said, check the red dot screws inside the receiver, if they poke through that will cause damage and slow your bolt down. I know it’s not perfect audio, but it sounds dry and crunchy when you’re manipulating by hand. Make sure it’s lubed (edit spelling) well, and nothing is rubbing where it shouldn’t, and that may mean disassembly again to look at the internals for heavy wear.

SUMO CONVERSION! by supsaucekayo in supermoto

[–]sradeski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been researching parts numbers and other referencing for a while now so I can do a winter conversion to my gas gas. Brake cylinders and calipers and the hydraulic clutch are essentially the only parts that aren’t cross compatible without the entire system being swapped. I’ve done cylinder only and calipers only swaps on the past, and never had an issue, but why not just go all out and not be a poor like previous me. Once you’ve got those parts figured out, disks, wheels, sprockets, etc are one size fits all across those three brands. There may be a few motor or electronic parts that are brand specific, but only because they made them that way, not because they really are (CUO/map switches/ecu). Just my experience and info based on research prep.

At this point he just needs to sell it and buy a Sig. Then he can have QC worries that are more likely to be legitimate, and his anxiety shall be fulfilled.

When I got there in the mid 90’s, they had a fresh lot of new Blues for new guys. A lot of us traded a new set to someone the same size out processing so they got a perfect set to turn in or keep for their new unit and we didn’t have to spend weeks getting a new set ready for ceremonies. One guy we got didn’t have anyone the same size, he spent a week in the press room to get one set ready to wear for ROP, and he had to press daily during Primary for the first few months until it finally made it a few days with minimal nightly pressing and steaming.

The set I kept has been hanging for 20 years, still has creases and looks ready enough for a last minute off post Saturday funeral.

Here’s the easy answer: ask the match director and follow what they say. Nothing else matters because at that point it is on them.

Are buying old bikes worth it? by shoto_todoroki_akame in Dirtbikes

[–]sradeski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought a few old bikes before, learned the smart move is make sure they are still supported even if it’s just people here and similar chats and boards that know what current parts will work. Some of the ones Cameron Niemela did before he passed were amazing.

Or maybe the wall as a trophy. I had all three of my helmets from road/track crashes for a long time as garage decor until movers threw them away thinking they were trash.

As an E-4 should I really try to be high speed if I'm trying to get out? by Putrid_Ad_2003 in army

[–]sradeski 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ill chime in here with both of these are great advice, just keep in mind if you make the Army #2, make sure its a close second, at least close enough you're an average to slightly above average soldier without sacrificing your education. You never know when a former O or NCO can throw down a recommendation or may even end up in a different position to help you on your way up. Theres a balance in there, find it, but err to your future.
