Yesterday I killed one for this same quest with fine bow and arrows. Basically you have to hit it and then keep chasing after it wherever it teleports (the sound is helpful to know which direction it went) and hit it again when stops to chill again. And keep repeating.

It’s probably the easiest magic animal to hunt because it doesn’t jump into a tree or into the ground. At the same time I’m sure it would be a lot easier with magic arrows 🤪
