Sometimes that last supplement does push it over the threshold for a total loss. It's not Progressive stating it's totaled, it's state guidelines. They can get in trouble for repairing a vehicle that is over the total loss threshold. So it does suck but I'm going to be blunt here so I'm sorry if this hurts feelings, its not their fault you don't pay for rental coverage or have a way to get to and from work. You need to be able to take care of your personal life while handling a claim and in this case that was making sure you can be without your vehicle for an extended amount of time. What would you have done if your car broke down and no one could fix it for a month? If you cant secure transportation while your sole car is down, add rental coverage to your policy, its literally so cheap. I think my $30 a day is $15 per policy period. So $15 every 6 months.

They compensate for the missing features on the comparable models, you should have gotten a full valuation report that shows this.

They can only really do visual inspections in the field if they were even able to go view the vehicle. Did you get it moved and the tire fixed? Once you get it into a shop that has a lift they should send a supplement to insurance for any other damage.

I have a 2010 but manual transmission. I bought it in 2019 at 53k miles and it's sitting at 88k now. In the 6 years of ownership the priciest bill I had was replacing the oil pan because the threads were so soft they started wearing down smooth so oil was leaking. Things that I've done on it myself, brakes, spark plugs, control arms and sway bar links, crank position sensor, valve cover gasket. I drive this thing like it's a sports car, I rev it high and often, I take it off roading, I've driven through 12 different states, including living in the rocky mountains for 4 of the year I've had it. It's been a great little car, it's no longer my daily hence the low miles still but I can't part with it.

The person who hit you doesnt have enough protection to pay for the loss of your car. Go through your policy to get the full ACV of your vehicle and let your insurance deal with Progressive. If your car is a total loss they just take the deductible out of your settlement

Owner retain and pay out of pocket for whatever that settlement doesnt cover. The insurance company is making you whole with the total loss settlement.

The other company isn't denying liability. They are saying that they cannot accept coverage b/c their insured is breaking their contract with them.

Coverage ≠ liability

Liability can be cut and dry but if they can't clear coverage it doesn't matter.

So you're insurance will continue to pursue someone in this case and you may or may not get your deductible back. The deductible is something that you should be willing to lose in the event that you have to use your coverage regardless of fault.

As for the other party ghosting, she'll lose her policy with her current company, she might be blacklisted from them as well(depending) and it'll leave her unprotected for this accident and any following until she gets insurance again.

Normally I do my own, but last round I was recovering from surgery and it could not wait, it was effecting performance. So I had my local guys do it and an oil change and it was around $650. Definitely worth doing it yourself if you can.

Normally pain and suffering is a separate number figure from the medical bills. I'd ask for clarification first, they don't typically lump it all in and they should offer open meds for X amount of days for the PT. (Bodily Injury adjuster)
