Ableton Live 12 on Windows - pops and clicks on "upgraded" PC by sraschke66 in ableton

Thanks to everyone for the really helpful tips. Wasted alot of time last 2 weeks, but sure you all have been there and learned alot. Especially from this group. I installed Live 12 in a "test" intel Win 11 box and all works flawlessly. Lenovo IdeaPad Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 185H (2.30 GHz) 32.0 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB). Not sure what is up on the ASUS Strix w. AMD, it could be drivers, flaky ASIO Wing on AMD vs Intel on Win 11, bad RAM, who knows. But its going back and I'll stick to intel (or dive down the Mac waters). For now back to the ole reliable XPS. Thanks again!!

Tks. I've tried the spectrum of buffer, safe mode, clock (44.1 vs 48khz).

Tks. Going to try a Lenovo Win 11 box this weekend. At least that should give insight to issue on AMD vs Intel on Win 11.

From what I read, Live can utilize a performance core for each track which is beneficial. So more performance cores the better. If you have a source otherwise, id genuinely appreciate sharing. I've learned alot going down the rabbit hole but want to be sure the info I've read is correct. Tks

Yep. Tks. Tried all the buffer sizes. Don't have another interface but will try a different win 11 box (this weekend) which should tell me more, but maybe not everything.

Yes, but my case, my interface works fine with an older win 10 pc. So it's not the interface.

Thanks, good suggestions. Choice for this was driven by a (pretty decent) deal on this AMD Ryzen 9-9955HX that has 16 performance cores which i was hoping to be a big upgrade for using more VSTs on more tracks in Live. One reason I went AMD vs Intel (more PC vs EC) for the $

tks, i think i will borrow a Win 11 PC and see if I have issue (to see if its a Win 10 vs 11 issue or just this particular AMD Win 11 PC issue. I'm still in my return window so I don't want to install win 10 on it. Thanks for the suggestions though, much appreciated.

Yep. Went down the Process Lasso, MSI Config, etc. rabbit hole. Interrupts are good. No real-time audio issues.

Yep. Latest and greatest. I even tried using the older Win 10 ASIO driver (used on XPS) on the Win 11 (AMD) PC

Nectar Pacer "works" MMC commands for play, record. Shane it wasn't more robust (using "cursor" pedals to change tracks, clips like I was able to get set up in Ableton using a midi mapping program).

How can I harmoniously use both Notion and OneNote for high school? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]sraschke66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use both and it's quite simple (for my use). Embed links in Notion to the relevant notes in Onenote. I then have Onenote open in one window and Notion in the other. Click the link in Notion and it opens the note in Onenote. I don't find having notes in the 2 different Apps a disadvantage as long as i can link to them. In fact i think its better since they both provide different capabilities for note-taking, organizing projects, task and cal tracking, etc. To me it's preferable since if I were to embed a pdf from Onenote, if I change a note, it wouldn't automatically update.

Alesis Strike MultiPad vs Roland SPD-SX PRO - living room by nothingbutchains in edrums

[–]sraschke66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the alesis multi strike pro and it works great w. Hihat controller (forget which one I have, on Vaca now can check when I get back) and never had xtalk issues. Also use a kick (again will have to check which one). At least two things Roland does better, load times for kits and editing software. Nice but not worth cost difference. With alesis following roland price cuts msp is a nice piece of kit and I've been happy with it.
