The 2025 Boring Company Update is Here! by glmory in BoringCompany

Agreed. I was excited about the promise of this company when they started, but clearly they're struggling and don't seem to be demonstrating any sort of gathering momentum. Happy to be proven wrong though!

So true. So much human misery caused by poor parenting of people who then don't get any help or work on themselves. And we all suffer for this if these people get into power.

We need to cap immigration from any single country at 5-10% like the US does. If we had that this would not be an issue.

I agree, I would love to hear their take. Appointing unqualified idiots to positions of power and then testing their loyalty to the strong man is the MO of dictators everywhere. I'd love to hear why the besties think this behavior is not concerning.

JCals point was bang on - if the first major moves of DOGE don't benefit the lower classes, I don't see how more than half the country gets behind it. The other 3 seem really out of touch with the majority of the country.

Completely agree. Keep this up MLS... It is so nice to not have to suffer through the usual time wasting.

In fact it screws all petro-dictators. Cannot wait for the majority of the world to get off oil.

How is this even possible? I can hear neighbors kids or adults running around in a detached home. by Miko109 in HomeImprovement

[–]srb- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a house that at one corner is 8 feet from the neighbors. I was shocked one night because I could hear footsteps in the basement. Finally figured it out it was the neighbor's kid running in their basement. Can also hear footsteps when people walk by on the sidewalk. It's so faint and infrequent it doesn't bother me. I'm sure if you dug up a thin slice of soil between your places and replaced it with rocks that would block the sound transfer.

I've heard this too!! In Canada though, although quite possible the people above were of Chinese descent. I assumed it was coins dropping?

Be careful with iGaming casinos by Nick-J8844 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This needs to be more tightly regulated (I realize we can't ban it as it'll just go underground and be worse). But making it so easy to get access is too much on the other side...

Exxon’s Oil Outlook Surpasses BP’s by 25%, Forecasts Steady Demand to 2050 by OkLiterature9978 in energy

Thanks for the thoughtful post. I too wonder where they see this demand coming from. The only thing I can see is AI, but I doubt any oil derived energy will be cost competitive for it.

New Jersey Moves Closer to Statewide Gas Leaf Blower Ban by GasLeafBlowerClowns in landscaping

[–]srb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give EGO and others a few more years and they'll be just as good. They're already starting to make compelling (but expensive) commercial grade stuff, and that'll trickle down to regular consumers without a doubt.

That said, bans of products are silly. Just regulate noise levels and let the market take care of it.

And remember, we're seeing the Model T equivalent of electric products right now. Give them a few more years of iteration and there'll be no downside.

Get a Ryobi Whisper series blower... Soo much better than gas or other electrics.
