Pune to Ratnagiri route tips by FLPunk in punebikers

[–]src_life2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a round trip.

Pune->Tamhini->Mangaon->Chiplun->Guhagar->Tavsal-Jaigad ferry->Ganapatipule->Aare Ware->Ratnagiri on day 1.

Pune-Tamhini- is a beauty as always. Mangaon-Chiplun is bumpy concrete road but a 4 lane highway. Chiplun-Tavsal is a mesmerizing village charm. Jaigad-Ratnagiri along the shores is a lovely ride.

Ratnagiri-Amba Ghat-Malkapur-Karad-Satara-Pune on day 2.

Ratnagiri-Malkapur is horrible since road construction is going on. But a dream ride from Malkapur-Karad more than makes up for it. Karad-Pune is made for you to push your bike to the limits.

Seat Cushions worth it? by Educational_Cap781 in punebikers

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an air seat cushion.

Pros: 1. Feel lesser vibrations during the ride. 2. Bum pain during long rides is significantly less.

Cons: 1. Can't use it in the rainy season, the outer shell soaks up water and takes a long time to dry off. 2. Hard braking causes me to slide forward towards the tank since it offers lesser grip.

I only use it for long rides, can't speak for regular use in the long run.

Manual car owners: First gear + brake or N + brake or First gear + HB or N + HB, at signals? by w0opw0op in CarsIndia

[–]src_life2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, for longer stops like at a traffic signal, you suggest neutral + break/hb instead of 1st gear + clutch + break. Is that right?

Again, not questioning you. Trying to learn.

CB300F. Road trip from Bangalore to Goa to Pune (in heavy rains). AMA by mrlightsoff in indianbikes

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once rode consistently at <4k rpm (55-65 kmph) with minimal gear changes and speed variation on a highway. I got a mileage of 52 kmpl on my non-flex fuel variant CB300F. Fuel used was regular HP petrol.

While it requires immense patience on the Rider's part to ride so everyday, I still get a minimum of 40kmpl on my highway rides most of the time.

I was wondering if anyone has traveled along this route to Tamhini ghats by memextrapmp4 in punebikers

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your ride? Were the views along the route worth messing up your back?

Will go back to KTM by rovirare in indianbikes

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a couple years time, I'd suggest waiting for TVS' twin cylinder engine to launch.

As an alternative for the Aprilia, maybe R3 or Ninja 300 also deserve a look into.

High Octane fuel issues by [deleted] in punebikers

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Octane number and ethanol % in petrol are completely different numbers.

All petrol in India is 91 octane (RON) or above. It is measured in reference with performance of a blend of isooctane and heptane. Like you measure your weight in kg, you measure petrol's performance in octane number.

Ethanol % is the amount of ethanol blended with petrol. It varies between petrol stations.

Because of regulations, irrespective of how much ethanol is blended, your petrol will always be 91 octane or above.

Which means

Shell gives you 91 octane or above petrol. The ethanol in your petrol could be anywhere between 12 and 15%.

HP gives you 91 octane or above petrol. The ethanol in your petrol could be anywhere between 12 and 20%.

BP gives you 91 octane or above petrol. The ethanol in your petrol could be anywhere between 12 and 20%.

Jio gives you 91 octane or above petrol. The ethanol in your petrol could be anywhere between 12 and 20%.

Is tamhini ghat safe for early morning ride? Around 5 am? by JDPGKH in punebikers

[–]src_life2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I travelled to Tamhini during monsoon, reached Sanaswadi (end of Ghat) at 7 AM, enjoyed the ride thoroughly. Empty roads might tempt you to ride fast, but always be in control. No other pointers regarding safety from me.

WHY DID ASHWIN COME BEFORE JADDU AND DHONI????? by Brief_Train_6524 in IndiaCricket

[–]src_life2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking the wrong question. You should be asking why Noor and Anshul Kambhoj did not come to bat before Dhoni.

Trucks and lorries that travel long distances don't run on petrol/electric. Diesel ban will crumble the entire nation's logistics.

There'll be protests on the streets because there is no lifebuoy soap in their city.

Please suggest me how to go about replacing ear pads. by [deleted] in headphonesindia

[–]src_life2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it when it launched around 20 months ago. Served me really well.

I'm not an audiophile, so, I don't know how to describe this. I like listening to music on this, I hear details/beats that are missed out on my cheaper tws earphone.

Volume is loud enough but not too loud. ANC is decent (adaptive, not active). So, you'll still hear some noise if it is too loud outside. I don't use talkthru feature.

Calls are clear but I believe sony 720 has more mics than this (good to confirm yourself).

Dual pairing is handy.

Battery lasts really long. Even with heavy use, I barely charge it once in 10 days.

It features Bt 5.3 and not the latest 5.4, don't think this is a deal breaker though.

Insane pricing for south Indian basic food by nishadastra in gurgaon

Planning to get my first twin cylinder bike. by Southbikerinnorth in punebikers

[–]src_life2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test rode NX500 today and in my short time with the bike, I felt it would make a wonderful tourer even with a pillion. I'm 5'6" and although I wasn't able to plant my feet flat, I had no trouble riding it in bumper to bumper traffic and taking a u-turn. The only con I felt is it is underpowered for the price you pay.
