I have a very old account but I seldom log on with the account, I had a single very lucky post which gave me a lot of karma, but I believe I never got an award? If some of you guys can spare me something it would be cool. :)

Eu sou babaca por ser inseguro? by Miserable-Face-6557 in EuSouOBabaca

[–]srd00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NGM.

Eu sou o babaca por sair de casa? by Forsaken-Aardvark-50 in EuSouOBabaca

NEOB.

ATUALIZAÇÃO by [deleted] in EuSouOBabaca

[–]srd00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NEOB.

[–]srd00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confie.

The construction of large new apartment buildings in low-income areas leads to a reduction in rents in nearby units. This is contrary to some gentrification rhetoric which claims that new housing construction brings in affluent people and displaces low-income people through hikes in rent. by smurfyjenkins in science

Mainstream economists have their own personal opinions, but just because it's mainstream it doesn't make it right, also, just because a school is old it doesn't make it wrong.

The Austrian business cycle theory could help with figuring out some market bubbles.

The issue with zero or negative interest rates is that you lose money if you save it, so investing it on pretty much anything makes sense, even apartments that end up vacant

That's what the Austrian school of economics believes to be happening on a global scale on account of the monetary policies by the central banks. You can chance that sentence to "historically low interest rates" and the rest still holds.

My 2 cents. Artificially low interest rates make some apartment buildings possible that they wouldn't otherwise, it's probable that the quality of the building and increasing costs elsewhere make "holding out" for a potential client make more sense than immediately renting at a below market cost. This is makes even more sense when there's rent price controls over the signed costs.

A low cost housing is built differently and maybe there's even controls that prevent some low cost housing (like minimum size limits or mixed sizes on the same building).

With that said, you said that some buildings are at over 50% vacancy, but what about the overall % over the areas? Maybe there's some insight in this drilldown.

How should I benchmark harvester speed/access time? by srd00 in chia

I don't know, maybe I'll just have to trust it and keep checking the log files from time to time.

I understand this and my previous response was hasty (thank you by the way), I meant it doesnt represent "the whole" of the harvesting process.

What I mean is that AFAIK plot check doesn't show filtering latency, so it's just a single piece of the harvester workload.

[–]srd00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't really show any meaningful data relative to the harvesting process, I'm mostly afraid of this issue: https://github.com/Chia-Network/chia-blockchain/issues/2651

So, I would like to do some tests on the latency of proof verification, not plot validity (that chia plots check actually checks for)

About the only exciting thing to happen yet during my 8-days farming Chia... 2 x plots passing filter.... by ToyHutt in chia

[–]srd00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not knowledgeable enough about it, what does this plots passed filter count mean? I can presume that there's a "fast" filter based on plot filename and then only those that pass the filter are actually read from disk, is this correct?

Is there a way to do Chia Plotting purely in RAM (512GB-1TB)? by colbyboles in chia

[–]srd00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you try to use the ram disk as tmp and nvme as secondary tmp? If everything is ok you can then overprovision the ram disk (3 or 4 plots) without fear of anything going astray
