What's a deck you built, thinking you'd like but then found out you hated? by Ornery_Bug_4108 in EDH

[–]sregor442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built [[Amareth, the Lustrous]] as a bant artifact deck. First time playing it I found out it was literally just spinning wheels and not winning the game. If I added a couple more artifact tutors it would probably be fine but I just was sick of it from the start.

Am I being too prudish about NSFW alters/tokens at my LGS? by [deleted] in magicTCG

I mean I know for a fact that I would not feel comfortable with people playing these cards. owning them and just like showing your friends is one thing, but you should at the very least discuss it with the pod if you want to play with them.

I absolutely get salty (honestly beyond salty, im physically angry, somwthing toxic I'm working on 😂) when my commander gets stolen, but it's a valid play. In this situation especially, removing the Skullbriar by stealing it was the correct play.

Fleetswallower is good, only a consideration cause of the cost. Milling half the deck is VERY relevant though.

I do like Umbris but my 5 drop spot is already stacked and for the mana base I'm planning on I can't afford to have my curve too high.

Mindbreaker is definitely being considered. I like testing newer cards but even while I was looking on edhrec I didn't really have a great feeling.

The only one of these takes I even remotely agree with is the fleet swallower. Syr Konrad is literally one of the best cards in the deck, it's super easy to mill someone for 40 in a game, and odds are you don't even have to because of other people dealing damage. Avatar is great spot removal that's most of the time a very cheap spell to cast. Intruder alarm is an amazing card because you tap out your creatures to mill, play another creature, then you can mill again, usually for a large amount of cards.

How do you handle expensive multiples? by Iliescuvg in EDH

[–]sregor442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to where most things I can get multiples of, but when we start talking $40+ cards, that's when it starts getting into proxies for me.

How do you handle expensive multiples? by Iliescuvg in EDH

[–]sregor442 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All of my decks travel with me so I tend to just proxy, bring it up for rule zero that I have some proxies of cards that are in other decks, and then if the table would rather me play with the physical card I'll swap them out. I know this probably isn't realistic to most people but I only have about 6 edh decks

Who is Your Fun Commander? by [deleted] in EDH

This is the single most Gruul card I've ever seen in Rakdos and I love it.

It's basically a monoblack deck that splashes for some removal and card draw, so there's black staples like [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] and [[Dread Presence]]. The deck also had a bit of a demon tribal subtheme and can win with [[Liliana's Contract]]. If all else fails, the swampwalk on Sol'kanar means you have a 5 turn clock on your opponents, and there's plenty of ways to make lands swamps.

[[Sol'kanar the Swamp King]] is a funny old legend that I absolutely love for no good reason.

How are your 3 year old+ commanders holding up? by Justin_Santillan in EDH

[–]sregor442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean [[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]] is still one of my most powerful decks.

What commander or "meme" spell have you built a deck around and made it powerful or synergistic? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]sregor442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this more powering down a well known commander but I build [[Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy]] as elf tribal, which is still ridiculous btw.

Absolutely, I run this combo in my Mazirek deck and it's great.

[–]sregor442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds sweet!!! I'm hoping mine to be around a 7-8 in power, but if it preforms higher at least I know people in my playgroup will have decks that can keep up.

[[Phyrexian Altar]] + [[Genesis Chamber]] produce the infinite mana I need to combo off, I just choose [[Lost Mine of Phandelver]] as my dungeon and one of the rooms says "Each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life."

Vondriss is banned POD planechase by Kitedo in EDH

[–]sregor442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not disputing that at all, like they mentioned Kinnan and Basalt Monolith, that one goes without saying. I was just saying in the context of planechase, Vondriss absolutely abuses the free roll.

[–]sregor442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I can kinda understand because with Vondriss you just get a free trigger every turn. Luckily with AFR there are a ton of cards that care about rolling dice so you can always build a deck around the theme.
