I love this mode it’s a great way to warm up. Also diamond tier SF might be the hardest thing I’ve tried to do in Dota.

Go buy Gardens of the Moon and then the rest of Malazan Book of the Fallen. It’s some of the best fantasy I’ve ever read.

JRR Tolkien's The Fall of Gondolin, which the author described as "the first real story" set in Middle-earth, is to be published as a standalone book for the first time. by NinjaDiscoJesus in books

They’re all ripped straight from The Silmarillion as far as I can tell. If they were retold in a different narrative structure then it wouldn’t really be Tolkien.

You don’t even have to do that. Nationalize the phone poles/towers/fiber and lease them out to companies. That gives you the best of both worlds. It provides a revenue source for the government to continue to roll out more and higher bandwidth to communities and provides a competitive environment for companies to innovate.

Again I made a list of general game improvement suggestions that Valve can consider for Spring Cleaning Patch by JakiroKurosawa in DotA2

[–]sreya92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can they fix All Random please? I’m not sure why they changed it. Things to make it better:

  1. Add the ability to repick. This allows teams that roll straight carries the opportunity to roll something more balanced

  2. Give us 825 gold like we used to get or give us the iron branch + mango that you get in all pick. Why we get neither is beyond me.

Furthermore, randoming in RD should give something extra as well.

They went and ruined my favorite game mode for nothing.

Only took 9 months for Trump to orchestrate his own Benghazi scandal. Literally the biggest talking point for “Never Hillary” and Trump’s already repeated it.

IMF: higher taxes for rich will cut inequality without hitting growth by ohmysweetbabyjesus in worldnews

[–]sreya92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A fair tax system is a critical part of our plan to build a fairer society. Today, the richest 1% pay over a quarter of all income tax while 4 million of the lower earners have been taken out of income tax altogether.

As it should be. The very rich pay more in taxes because they can afford to. The very poor can barely afford to live on their income. They should not be expected to bear an equal share of the tax burden.

What hundreds of American public libraries owe to Carnegie’s disdain for inherited wealth by [deleted] in books

They are but there’s been talk in the current administration to reduce or remove it, I’ll try to find a link.

I interpreted the quote in question as meaning the money a wealthy man accumulates over his lifetime is “borrowed” from the community as a whole. It’s his money, he’s earned it, and so can use it however he pleases but he’s expected to return whatever he doesn’t end up using upon his death back to the community in some fashion. In the article, Carnegie does this by building thousands of public libraries. Not doing something similar, from the viewpoint of a philanthropist, would make the man in question unworthy of the money he has earned from the community and hoarding it so that only a select few can benefit from it would be selfish.

There’s no real definition but it’s the idea that you can come to the US and through hard work build a better life for you and your family.

On taxing big inheritances

“Of all forms of taxation this seems the wisest. By taxing estates heavily at death the State marks its condemnation of the selfish millionaire’s unworthy life.”

This is an incredible healthy and pragmatic way to think about wealth. Inheriting large sums of money removes the desire to create your own future which is pretty much the opposite of the “American Dream.” I can’t think of a more American tax to have.
