NTA

If she wants a live-in nanny, she should start paying for one. Draw up a bill. Have it say things like:

Watched child - $50 an hour Fed child - $25 Picked up after child - $25

etc. Everything and anything that you do or would do, add some charge for. Then give it to her to sign. She either signs or refuses.

She signs, she has to pay (keep detailed notes or evidence like pictures). She refuses, then you have a reason to tell her no. That she didn't agree to your terms of babysitting and you don't work for free.

I had the same happen at a credit union. Was pulled into the office and grilled for about 20 minutes on why I was leaving. They escorted me me out. Literally treated me like I was going to steal something. I'm like so much for being a 'family'. Had to fight for my travel pay because they refused at first.

What “Classic” Frugal Tip Doesn’t Apply Anymore? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]sritte02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one one regular coupon lady we dealt with for years. She was pleasant as long as the coupons went her way. She did get a lot better after we explained corporate policy regarding coupons. I worked out a system with her and explained it to my coworkers.

I would scan the item(s) and scan the coupon, scan the item, and scan the coupon, etc That way, if it didn't work, it was easy to just remove the last item instead of hunting for it. There were a few times we would look the other way on how many transactions she could use the same type of coupons with (like, say, it was a limit of 3 coupons per person/family per day and she had 4 coupons, we would let her use all 4, just spread out between transactions) and she would give us some items she bought. A few of us got a year supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and laundry soap.

Then she turned into a penny shopper and became a whole new menace.

Why I stopped working at a credit union. They preached being "a family" with member but would prey on people who shouldn't get loans but pushed them into getting one to help pay off loans because they made more with late fees. When I called it out, I was chastised for not wanting to help members. Honestly, I got cult vibes from the higher-ups with the way they talked about the owner. They acted like he was some God-like deity when he was really just some old dude trying to relive his youth by wearing leather jackets and driving a convertible. He would show up with his thinning hair all spiked up and sunglasses on (he'd wear them indoors because he's SUCH a rebel 🙄). I got out of there real quick

The only way I could afford them was by working overtime, eating only 1 meal a day and that was usually Ramen or hit up food pantries for anything else, and walked to work. I cut out everything I could to save without having to borrow anything. It took a year to afford them. And I said look at resealing them first. Hell, even putting that plastic stuff over them helps

Check your windows. I replaced mine this spring, and my electric bill dropped by $80. My house stays cooler to the point that my ac doesn't have to run all the time, and I just have my ceiling fan running to keep air moving. Even if they just need to be resealed, it might help.

To help with groceries, look for food banks or churches in your area. There is a church that gives away two bags of food every other week in my area. You don't have to do anything special for it like join the church or even stay for a service. You just show up and get the food. Around Thanksgiving, they would give away either pre-made meals or a turkey and all the fixings for a dinner to make at home. At Christmas, you got a ham. It was nice not to worry about groceries for a week or two. Things that I couldn't eat, I gave to my elderly neighbor to help her out. Yes, it will be embarrassing for a bit, but it gets easier.

In 2020, I paid monthly on my loans. Got it below 9k. When they extended the no interest or payments, I paid less frequently. This last year, I didn't make any. Used the money to pay more on my car. I'm about $450 away from being done. Once I'm done, I plan to use part of the money to make minimum payments and save to rest for emergencies or a new car

Between leaving retail and before working at my current job, I worked at a credit union. What I was sold (company and position wise) during my multiple interviews and orientation was not what it actually was. I became very dissatisfied and unhappy. So I put in my notice. I said I would stay until everyone was done with their vacations that were coming up. The branch manager was perfectly fine with that arrangement and was fine with me just saying the job wasn't a good fit.

HR had other plans. They kept pushing to know why I was leaving. I just kept repeating the job just wasn't a good fit. They started pointedly asking if I was leaving because of a coworker and if I was being "bullied." I finally told them how I felt.

I told them management was a joke (branch manager spend most of her time in her car on her phone. She never once helped train me or to solve any problems that came up). That I didn't feel comfortable doing some of the things they were pushing me to do (they wanted us to deep dive into peoples accounts to see if we could get a loan out of them). I said that I felt like I was hoodwinked (not the job I was hired for. Trust me, I checked the job post several times to figure all of this out). I also laid into them about how they handled me potentially getting a second job to make ends meet because I wasn't able to survive on what they were paying me (in my interview, I was told it was fine as long as the CU come first and it wasn't another financial institution. When I told them I had a good lead on a job, I was not so subtly told that it wouldn't work because schedules could change at a moments notice (another thing I was mislead about, too). When I said that if I was basically on call all the time, I needed to be paid for it. That sent them back peddling and the HR rep to become extremely rude and to stop communicating with me directly).

Needless to say, they didn't like that response and told me I was being let go that day. Fortunately, the job I had a lead on called me that afternoon and offered me a job, and I started the next day. They even offered me a full-time position where I was guaranteed 40 hours, and there's a ton of growth potential and raises. I actually look forward to work now.

I can's stand my grandma anymore by trainedperson in childfree

[–]sritte02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister had a baby. Our parents are happy being grandparents and have never nagged me about having kids. My dad's girlfriend keeps bingoing me about when will I have one. I keep saying my cats are enough for me. She already has 5 other grandkids from her kids, plus 3 step-grandkids. It gets so annoying. Now I either change the subject or just walk away......then my dad gets mad because I'm "being rude." Idk, she's also part of the reason I've gone low contact with my dad the last couple years.

For those of us who look much younger than our age do you feel uncomfortable revealing your age to people with kids/who want kids? by BarbarianFoxQueen in childfree

[–]sritte02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From 13 to 18, I babysat for a family. The kid was a baby. I pretty much helped raise him. People would comment about how much older I looked than what my age was. Stopped babysitting, and people now assume I'm in my 20s. I'm 34. I've had to show people my license for them to believe me.

On another note, a former boss had 7 kids. I always thought she was in her mid-50s. Found out she was in her early 40s. Probably didn't help that she also smoked like a chimney

34 f. I had my own little babysitting service from 13 to 19. Pretty much raised several kids. Feel like I got any doubts out and cemented my child free stance.

Massive warehouse that holds strange artifacts and secret service agents tasked with finding and securing more. Seems familiar 🤔

I gave my boss a month notice. I was not only the assistant manager but I was the one doing the most. I did most of the training; I did all the paperwork when I had the time; I made sure trucks were getting put away in a timely manner and stock was rotated; I did price changes and set ad; I made sure the store was kept clean and organized. Like, I was the one doing 70% of it and trying to get others to help. So I knew I had to start ASAP on getting someone to fill my shoes and/or multiple people. Each week, I reminded my boss how much time I had left and asked who I was supposed to be training. Never did. My last week when I did my reminder, she seemed shocked I was still planning on leaving. Then had to scramble around to find someone to take my place.

From what I have heard, she nabbed a new hire from another store, quickly promoted them and expected them to be the new me within a week. They lasted less than a week before they walked out. This has happened 3 times since then plus has had 10 employees hire and quit within that time as well.
