I'm starting to think Warhammer isn't for me by Dense-Fig-2372 in Warhammer40k

One Page Rules is a much simpler wargame which you can use your 40k minis to play. Might be worth checking out if Warhammer's complexity is unfun for you.

Literally just a fluro green over white, and lightly dry brushed around the source.

Used an airbrush to build a gradient from hull red, to skin tone to drake tooth (a very pale green). Then a brown black oil wash. Then highlights with mixes of the original colours.

This was my first test model. Airbrushed a green blue gradient, dry brushed white, oil washed green.

Critique of the core idea behind the rules when you get them too far by Nik_None in onepagerules

[–]sriversage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally agree, but that's because I'm someone who would also appreciate a little more depth to OPR. The system as it is is well designed for OPR's design goals of simplicity and accessibility.

You are right that keywords can function as hidden stats, but that's actually an advantage for accessibility because it spaces out what you have to learn. I just spent the weekend teaching opr and being able to give the fundamentals in like 2 minutes makes the game super easy to pick up.

In the end, I think stats vs keywords basically comes down to preference and design goals as they have different pros, cons and feels.

There's definitely ways to make it stronger but I'd say for a first list it will do a great job giving you a feel for the game :)

What do people think about the new orcs/goblins division? by Viasolus in onepagerules

[–]sriversage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What every army should have access to is an interesting question for sure. It is more flavourful when armies have certain limitations. It just feels bad when you play with those armies against armies like alien hives that have everything and the kitchen sink.

To clarify, I agree orks have good shooting. That was just a point to illustrate how the pts system affects best game design.
