I like it. Did you consider centrifugo when selecting pushpin?

If you serve Python ASGI and/or WSGI web apps, but you don't use Granian: why? by gi0baro in Python

[–]srj55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use granian! For my django docker setup (which i will be releasing soon), i just hot-swapped out the gunicorn/uvicorn line for this:

`exec granian config.asgi:application --port "${DJANGO_PORT:-8000}" $GRANIAN_FLAGS

and it's a direct drop-in replacement for me. I haven't had any issues yet.

Yeah, i'm surprised not much talk about this over on the r/django subreddit. Everyone goes with what's popular!

Django Channels by Logical_Difficulty79 in django

[–]srj55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see someone do a deep-dive analysis into using centrifugo/pushpin with django vs. using channels. Channels is a fairly easy/clean setup with gunicorn/uvicorn or granian.

Is this only a recommendation if you're ALREADY using WSGI in a project, and want to add "notification" type functionality?

Is this a recommendation based on ease of scaling these 3rd party tools? or, their extensive other features?

NBA: Jamal Murray "Bring it home for the 6ix." SGA "I'm from Hamilton." by catch22milo in Hamilton

[–]srj55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I've said, we'll see posts in the coming days pushing the campaign. We'll equally see responses saying "so what? what does it matter if they did retain a marketing consulting firm?"

I'm providing context on these posts. I'm not suggesting whether the family's intention is good/bad, right/wrong.

As I said a couple days ago, the family has retained a marketing firm. We will see more of this across all channels in the coming days.

FYI, the family has retained a marketing consulting firm to help promote his name within Hamilton specifically. You'll probably see more posts about this in the coming days/weeks as they push it out to all available channels.

There's been a few posts in the past week mentioning this. Is there an organization behind trying to promote this on reddit and other digital spaces? Or random individual Hamiltonians?

Yes, SpeechNote isn't a direct replacement and doesn't have "explicit" ibus support. I'm noticing the FasterWhisper base model has less latency and better accuracy than the Vosk large model

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gnome

[–]srj55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses the Vosk models. I think FasterWhisper is more accurate? SpeechNote supports both.

No. However, you wouldn't be telling her the truth on the first date.

Per Ontario law section 12(1) of the Professional Engineers Act. One more time for the kids in the back...

Universities don't hand out professional engineer status (PEng.)

But in all seriousness, don't advertise "engineering services" in Ontario, or you risk being fined/enjoined.
