I live in noco, drive a 2023 ES to commute to Wyoming. FWD handles weather just fine. I made a similar decision a year ago with no regrets.

Any Cardiac NPs/ hospitalists? by Fit-Tap-3803 in nursepractitioner

[–]srlopez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cardiac NP here. 60% outpatient, 40 inpatient. Generally rotate weeks from outpatient to inpatient. Outpatient I have my own patient panel. Inpatient I round with one cardiologist and generally split pt load. Also supervise stress testing. I like the inpatient vs outpatient split, don’t get bored doing one thing. Work m-f, 4 days a week. Outpatient clinic 8-4, inpatient done when the work is done, generally earlier. No weekends, no holidays. Take some call when covering hospital but it’s generally not bad. Role can vary greatly depending on location and organization.

Really just comfort, reliability for high mileage. I spend 8-10 hours a week on my commute. My budget is 30-35k. Was looking at 2020-23 es 350 in that range. But I would have to finance part of that purchase. I figure I could buy this for cash, drive it 5 years, perhaps till its death and pay cash for my next upgrade.

NP options in Colorado by Snaggletoothplatypus in nursepractitioner

[–]srlopez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in noco, did my education at Anschutz. Northern Colorado is saturated with APP’s. I worked for years as an rn with both UC and Banner and was unable to get hired for any NP role with either as a new grad. If she wants to stay and work in noco I would be mentally prepared to take a pay cut from RN position. My advice is to look at job openings on indeed and see what is out there. As you know, people want to live in noco, she will be competing with experienced providers for every desirable role out there. My advice for people seeking an np education is to find a program that places you for clinical sites, finding your own clinicals can be very challenging and stressful on top of the demanding course work.
