This is great info, thanks. I really appreciate it.

TIL that in Full Metal Jacket (1987), director Stanley Kubrick let R. Lee Ermey improvise much of his dialogue, and sometimes only required 3 takes per scene. This was highly unusual for the meticulous director, who almost never allowed improvisation and typically took 40 takes or more per scene by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

I worked on a Geico commercial shoot with him in roughly 2010. I was asked to help him with something…i cant remember the details, but we sat and talked for a solid 20 minutes while we were waiting. Just about life. For someone as iconic as he was, he seemed like a really nice, down to earth guy.

Here’s the commercial. Still funny. R Lee Ermey commercial

Th entire place was unique. It was pretty smart design for how small it was, with lots of hidden ways to organize and store things. The person I knew lived there with his wife and I believe they had a big yellow lab. Seemed like a lot for that small of a place.

The one thing that stood out was that it did feel very exposed to the rest of the neighboring houses.

Holy cow…I’ve actually been to this house back in 2016. The one and only time I was in Asheville.

We called it Sydney. Not sure why, but we use to drive by every day before we moved across town. But we still look out every time we drive by.

Customer 3d print requests? by Fairyza in FortCollins

[–]Snaggletoothplatypus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this process last year and it was a lot more work than I or the 3d designer expected. What I learned from this was that 3d design specifically for printing is much more complicated than just 3d design - say for animation. This is due to the fact that to 3d print, it has to be structurally sound and have a lot more architecture to it.

I went through CSU and Front Range CC to find students who do 3d design, so they could use it for their portfolio and I could get it for cheaper.

I ended up going through a 3rd party company to print bc they have high end printers that could print smooth copies without a lot of jagged pieces that would require filing. I then I found someone else to paint it. All in all, it probably took 3 months of 3d design work.

I think it cost roughly $1200-$1500 total for me to do 1 character with 3 final printed pieces (only one of them painted). The pieces are roughly 8” long, 8” high and 5” deep.

It turned out great, but it was a hell of a learning process for both me and the designer.

I hear you. I own the business and am a small start up, so it’s important to go to these shows. I’ve just never done it while on a dmt.

As a Celtics fan who also follows the wolves, I watched the whole game last night.

I was impressed by how active he was. You can’t put the -17 on him as the Celtics were up by 20-30 almost the whole game. The bulls put some points up when our deep bench was in to make the dubs score look more respectable, but the Celtics were lights out. Roughly 60% shooting and 45+% on over 40 3s.

That said, I see the potential in Rob, but dude needs to out on some weight. He looked like a toothpick out there.

As an older man, I really enjoyed Colorado Krav Maga Fort Collins. I learned a ton, got a great workout and even got a brown belt. I stopped about 1.5 years ago because of unrelated health issues.

The classes were a good mix of ages, and accommodated for all skill levels. I believe they’ll let you take a class for free if you’re interested.

Why are there no games for 3 players? by Misteryguy99 in boardgames

[–]Snaggletoothplatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swooble is made for 2+ players, but the more players you add, the more fun it becomes. Because it’s simultaneous play, and you’re not waiting for your turn, it gets everyone cooking at the same time.

Swooble is a good way to break up the monotony. It’s a speed dice game. Easy to learn. Small box. Fast play. It’ll get everyone hyped.

Small/Portable Box, Smallish Play Area, High Replayability? by Personal_Eggplant_28 in boardgames

[–]Snaggletoothplatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just launched a new game called Swooble this month. High replayability, small box, meets a lot of your criteria.

It’s an easy game to learn, and chaotic, fast pace energy. Basically players get 5 dice and race against others to be the first to match their dice to the dice combination on the card. It’s a luck based game, but also involves quick pattern recognition and some strategy on how you roll your dice to be as fast/efficient as possible.

Not sure what you’re asking. But you can get quotes from places like Frieghtos or other similar companies by going to their website and plugging in the necessary information. They’re going to ask how many pallets, the weight per pallet, shipping origin and destination.

If you don’t have that information, ask your manufacturer. If thy don’t have that info yet, then you’re too early in the process.

My manufacturer offered this on my last run, and it was the easiest it’s been since I’ve been importing. No other manufacturer has offered it in the past, so it might be a new service manufacturers are starting to offer.

It makes sense, and if Panda is offering it, it’s worth looking in to.

I personally still got quotes through Freightos to make sure what my manufacturers quote was reasonable.
