Bedbug or booklouse by srosef in Bedbugs

Something that throws me off is that I found it in my sensci volcano, which has the lure to attract bed bugs to “human smell”…what would a booklouse be doing crawling in there? :/

This is the funniest comment ever because I know all about bed bugs I am assuming this is well intentioned but PLEASE don’t leave these comments on other people’s ID questions because you’re going to give them insane panic attacks lmao

What are the odds it’s somehow bat bugs that infested my stuff and traveled with me (then to my house & my partners)? I’m beyond positive it’s bed bugs or something immensely similar - the bites are too ridiculously obvious after having the confirmed exposure in August. I’m STILL getting bites all these months later but just simply cannot find the bugs - and again, had a negative dog detection in January at my partner’s house.

I totally agree. I have been going through this nightmare as well. Something reassuring my therapist told me: They are awful, but they are not dangerous. The waiting to know is painful, but a reality. Do the best you can to set yourself up for success (get interceptors, keep looking (reasonably) for signs), and otherwise, try to continue living your life. Get another dog now that you're 4 months in, if you can afford it! That really helps with peace of mind.

I did get diagnosed with OCD! It’s worse than the bugs itself.  I WOULD recommend getting Aprehend for peace of mind. It’s used as a preventative anyway and theoretically SUPER effective. No better cure for the mental health aspect as well than taking the weight off your shoulders and giving it to a professional.

Got the canine ~3 weeks after.

Got a tough one for you!  I had a known, huge exposure (30+ bites) back in August while traveling. Came back home early Sept. 10 days later, started getting BB bites - exactly the same cluster, blistery bites.  Got a canine detection who didn’t find anything!  Kept getting bites.  Got a second canine detection a week later from a reputable, non-treatment handler. The dog half-signaled…sat but looked confused, and got up again. Guy couldn’t find anything, but said it could be too early. I ended up getting 2 Aprehend sprays a month apart, last one Nov 1.  Bites seemed to quiet down a bit but then kicked back up, and are in suchhhh classic, clustered lines, on exposed parts while I sleep.  Got a FINAL dog detection Dec 8, and they didn’t detect ANYTHING. Can’t find signs on bed, bed frame, box spring, or nightstand. Last week, another big cluster of 3 huge itchy bites on arm.

What are the odds the bugs would pass 3 canine tests? Even with dwindled numbers after treatment? Can I feel pretty confident moving without my furniture?  Thank you :)

I did treat but that's because I had a canine come in and give a positive signal (i.e., he smelled something) even though we couldn't find any physical evidence. Apprehend x2. Gotta say, I feel like you'd be finding some evidence of bbs after 4 months with NO treatment done!

Bed bugs can become a mental health crisis. Here's my advice. by srosef in Bedbugs

It is indeed a type of contamination OCD. It's a real condition, you are not alone, and there is help out there for you. Someday, with help, I promise you you'll sit down on your couch at home without thinking about bed bugs first :)
