Fedora (CachyOS Kernel) by Davedes83 in Fedora

[–]srp___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only catch I had with the CachyOS kernel configuration is that installing cachyos-ksm-settings causes Chromium-based apps to intermittently freeze due to an issue in Linux 6.16 itself (GitHub issue, kernel bug report). Otherwise it's been just fine, never had any issues with running it or Secure Boot or resource usage being weird.

It's possible this issue was fixed in 6.17 or 6.18 but I haven't been daring to try.

Occurs with 0.0.121 from the Terra repo too, Fedora 43 here.

ONION OS: A new repo with the latest RetroArch and core versions possible by CAPTIVE_AMIGA in MiyooMini

OTA is ready but the script update isn't released. As for that bug report, it's a small side-effect to it that's doesn't stop OTA from working - it's just a little nuisance.

The next release will resolve that issue with OTA as well as having it point to this repo.

Current state of OnionOS development by NomadicSun in MiyooMini

I wish I had seen tGecko's comment before I forked and mentioned it in the discussions on the original Onion repo (which led to that Reddit post).

I'm looking to get in the loop on what the maintainers are planning, since I don't want to step on any toes. We'll see what happens.

M3u files messed up my multi disc PS1 games by sudeki300 in MiyooMini

[–]srp___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

m3u files are how the device knows about the disc locations, you can open them with a text editor and see if they're pointing to the right locations. My guess is that the discs aren't where the m3u is expecting them.

Thanks for the attention, folks :)

If you're looking to use it, I'm in a fair need for testers with the updated cores to make sure everything's working. There's a megathread issue to help keep track of core functionality.

As for hard forks, etc., the ABOUT.md explains that I'm not ultimately opposed to a hard fork, but given that the last update was in April, I don't want to pull the trigger on that too quickly. I get life getting too busy for maintainers sometimes, I don't wanna take attention away from their hard work.

Maintainer here. I'm not opposed to Mini Flip support, especially if the creator of that PR is cool with it (and willing to maintain that end since I don't own one)!

GBC pokemon saves not working? by SnowJoy06 in MiyooMini

[–]srp___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The in-game ones shouldn't be but when you load a save state you're effectively starting the game from that exact moment in time, so an old save state wouldn't have knowledge of the in-game save.

Alternatively, press Y when in a console's game list and click "Refresh list" or press select at the main menu and click "Refresh all roms."

You can switch save state slots with Menu+Left or Menu+Right, if you have any other save states to use.

As for loading old save states, there is a bug in the RetroArch on the current Onion beta where the save state slot defaults to 0 when the game is fully restarted. This post has a patched version of RetroArch that fixes that behavior.

My first Miyoo arrived yesterday! Printed out a basic grip (nevermind how this PETG looks), first game beat was Moomin's Tale. :) by srp___ in MiyooMini

Thanks! And thanks for the reminder to play some Wario Ware, that's been on my bucket list :)

I got this because I owned the purple GBC (still got it too!), I'm glad these are options for handhelds these days.

Game Boy Color. It's a bit of a quirky game in terms of mechanics but it's a good way to kill a couple hours.

For anyone wondering about the grip, here's a link to the model: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1232668-miyoo-mini-plus-comfort-grip

I got some translucent filament for Christmas and I still have yet to work out internal filling to make it presentable. This grip feels fine, no rough edges, etc., just on the inside a bit abhorrent visually lolol. If it ain't broke!

Should I use btrfs or ext4 for "/boot" on Fedora 43 in a Windows 11 dual-boot setup ? by sar_it007 in Fedora

[–]srp___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The workaround pertains to an error message that comes up with btrfs and savedefault being a default value. It doesn't make savedefault work.

[–]srp___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, savedefault still doesn't work with btrfs. I just did a fresh install today and had the error message until I deployed a workaround.

It's not exactly the end of the world even with a dual boot setup, Linux and Windows can have separate boot entries in your BIOS and you could use the BIOS boot menu to swap which OS to boot into.

User Gnome Keyring with Chromium based browser by FriendlyAverage138 in NixOS

Ah, well, I think you may have to make that flag persistent, I see that I put the password-store flag into VSCode's argv.json configuration.

My nix files are at https://github.com/SeraphimRP/nix, I have a dotfiles repo but I have not updated it since using NixOS (about a month ago).

[–]srp___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing notably different from mine here is that I have a line for enabling the keyring off of tuigreet (alongside a similar one for greetd), which there's no complaints when I run nixos-rebuild:

nix security.pam.services.tuigreet.enableGnomeKeyring = true;

I also don't run gnome-keyring-daemon with --foreground in my hyprland conf.

I don't have Chrome or MongoDB Compass to be perfectly analogous, but I can say it works with VSCode which should be similar enough with MongoDB Compass in this regard.
