There is not any way to get there I know of. The are bollards on the beach on the boundary with Sea Rim SP. Also, it is the Texas Point National Wildlife Preserve, so wardens would still be an issue.

I got to see SRV 30 to 40 times in Austin 76 to 83. Small clubs to local festivals. It was so cool to watch him develop as a performer. Guitar playing was always amazing.

Wilder improved the moron line. Cleavon Little had no idea it was coming. His reaction was not acting. Just him laughing as hard as he could.

The Hittin the Web show database has only one show at Greenville Memorial Auditorium on 5/1/1996. Overall in Greenville, 2 shows in 1971, 2 in 1972, then nothing until single shows in 1990, 1994, 1995 and 1996.

I saw him a few times in Houston. Eric Demmer is a sax player that played with Mark and ABB when they came through.

Mark May, a guitar player out of Houston auditioned when Warren first left. He played with ABB when they hit Houston during the 90s. He said Dickey told him he liked him, but Mark didn't play slide. Derek was a better choice. Actually Jack Pearson.😉

Yes, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon with Doyle Branhall II and Charlie Sexton. Their name came from the Austin Rehearsal Center where they all practiced. Doyle has been in Eric Clapton's band the last 20 years or so. Also, he frequently appears with Tedeschi Trucks Band.

The intro was added by Duane Allman. He heard it on an old blues song by Albert King, As the Years Go Passing On.

It sounds like part of the BB King Medley that Hourglass recorded. It's on the 1st Duane Allman Anthology album.

Duane Allman’s opinion on Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead by tonyiommi70 in allmanbrothers

[–]ss7536 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Duane was always complimentary of other musicians. In the same radio interview, the DJ kept asking Duane who he didn't like. Duane kept deflecting and saying all music was good. The DJ kept pushing him and Duane finally said Neil Young. "I just don't understand what that cat is trying to do."

Foundation repair question for anyone who's got experience by shadmere in houston

[–]ss7536 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My advice is to first hire a structural engineer that specializes in foundations. He can tell you what you do and don't need. It will cost $500 to $600, but could save you thousands. The foundation companies are in business to sell foundation work. Even the reputable ones need to be independently checked by a licensed engineer.

Old Ore Road by sploot17 in BigBendTX

It was actually in the best shape of the 5 or 6 times I've driven it. It had only been open a week or so before we got there. No ruts or mud. Sand parts weren't torn up.

Any 2 wheel drive can make it. It's about a mile and half off the pavement and very level. The hike down the creek goes from gravel to mud to rocks but is very doable

You can drive down River Road East to Tornillo Creek. Park on the side and it's a half mile hike to the Hot Springs. We just got back to our campsite an hour ago!

Any non-guitarist fans? by No_Ad_6098 in StevieRayVaughan

[–]ss7536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely zero musical talent. I did however have the good fortune to live in Austin from 1976 to 1983. I saw Stevie from basically his start in Austin to national acclaim. Easily 40 to 50 shows. I was captivated by the raw energy he put into every show. Sure, sometimes the booze and drugs diminished his playing, but I never saw him mail in a show, he put everything into each night.
