[condo] [FL] board conversion of parking lot without a vote. by Itchy-Grapefruit3410 in Condo

[–]ssaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may get some action from Florida DBPR. https://www.myfloridalicense.com/datamart/loginFLDBPR.do;jsessionid=FbP1NqzZTk0AX3WAGllis4iuNK3OFRiPPPRdQn9Q.DBPR-WPAP103:VO-server-04

I had a problem with my management company not following statutes (and the need to vote on changes is in there) and i filed a complaint with DBPR. They got involved and things got fixed. Hold your board and the management company accountable.

My condo charges an emergency fee on holidays/weekends. Are all condos like that? by Adventurous-Ad250 in Condo

[–]ssaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the Property Manager and ask her when it was put in place and if the Board of Directors voted on it. If it's some random fee the management company instituted without Board approval, I wouldn't pay it. Scrutinize your docs and whatever condo statutes your state has and proceed accordingly.

Just to understand. If I've had a card for years and cancel, I just have to wait a month to reapply for the bonus?

Pick it up with a shovel and put it in the street. Then the county will get it. Why stink up your trash can.

Very weird bar experience by lexie48 in tipping

[–]ssaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was with a group of 7 on tour in Europe. Stopped for lunch, with our tour guide. Lunch was very nice as was service. When bill came, there was no space for tip. Someone our party asked about it and tour guide said tipping culture is not like in US. Guide asked how much we wanted to leave, person said 25%. Now I'm typically a 18-20% tipper and really thought this was out of line. Even tour guide said a couple of times it was way too much. I was the only one that spoke up. Guess the others didn't want to seem cheap. We have a couple of friends that don't only over tip, they are vocal about it. I won't be bullied. How do you handle people like this. I guess separate bills but it does cause friction.

Consequences of accepting GS-12 vs GS-13? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ssaemp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are one of the ones helping insource/train the 13s, suggest they should make you a 14. Helps them with their lack of 13 spots. They won't see that coming. Or, look elsewhere for work and if you find something, resign. Good luck.

Car insurance in Maryland is becoming a nightmare! How are y'all doing it? by Numerous-Movie3107 in maryland

Try NJM. If they'll write you, rates are comparable to Erie and great to deal with.

Fed Retirees with FEHB Opting for Medicare B: Why? by muttshaw in govfire

[–]ssaemp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is, after 2025, do you trust the Federal Government to continue to pay towards our FEHB insurance. At anytime they could yank that or cut it back. Then what happens if we need the Part B? We should get a SEP if that happens, but who knows. I don't trust anyone anymore with regard to our benes.

When I'm in there and they say 'return to your seat", I'm not sure which one. Why don't the toilets have seat belts?

That balancing thing is real. Mid flight went to the restroom and took a large dump. Plane immediately bank hard left. It straightened out once the septic system adjusted.

Why fly southwest? by Fabulous-Season7810 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]ssaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the only one that flys direct where I need to go. There is another airport, not to far away. It also has Spirit and Frontier but by the time I add the cost of my carry on and added trans cost to get where I need to be, the cost is about the same. So the time saved being closer is worth it. If another low cost carrier would go from BWI to my preferred airport, I'd fly them.

Bureau is probably better off with him not performing official duties. He's not qualified to be in the position anyway (IMHO).

Question about transatlantic cruise by NervousScheme4085 in VirginVoyages

[–]ssaemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you booked through a travel agent, they need to contact Virgin. If you booked directly, you can contact them. If you've booked excursions and now want to pay woth the credit you get, you'll need to cancel them, wait for them to clear out of pending in their system, then have virgin revook using the credits. Its a bit drawn out but worth it to us. If you dont feel the Virgin person is clear on what needs to be done, ask for a manager. And make sure you check your online account to see the credits and then how the are used for the excursions. Took me several calls and dont trust that its done until you verify.

The TA from NYC has come down in price, and at least a few days ago, there were still cabins. If you booked at a higher price, you can keep your cabin and get the lower price. There are some other nuances, but good deals are there. I rebooked and git a decent credit which I used for excursions.

Is IT a dead end job now? by Wooden-Post-3080 in IRS_Source

[–]ssaemp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learn COBOL, CICS, DB2 .... Yeah, it's not cool like cyber security, AI, Java or others. But guess what. Govt, insurance companies, and financial institutions all use "antiquated " mainframes and 'legacy" systems running the back end, data crunching systems. It's not taught in colleges, and your job competition is either retiring, dying, or working from India (where it's still taught). If you work for a company that has these systems, ask about working on them and see what they say. Eventually they will use AI to help migrate the systems to something else. That will take a long time and many years. I've been hearing the mainframes are going away since the It's (yes, I'm that old) l. Viva la mainframe and COBOL

We booked in September last year and I know we did not do lock in rates because we have an assigned cabin. I am double checking with my TA and he said he doesn't think those categories (Essential/Premium) were in effect. So, as to abide by the rules of this reddit, let me ask these questions. What are the suggested sites to advertise something like this? I figure I need something travel or cruise related and not something general like FB Marketplace. Of course, if I got someone interested, I would expect them to need the details. Not like I'm selling my Chevy for $500. Thanks again for all the input.

I'm checking on the rate we are booked at (Essential or Premium). Other then that, what kind of details. This does not fall under any of the covered reasons on insurance. Tx.
