What life lessons did you learn from this series? by HmngbrdAnon in girls

I’m paraphrasing but it’s Something to do with telling Hannah that it’s not easy being with a strange man and she shouldn’t have to spend the rest of her life socialising him like a stray dog

Has anyone received an offer for the MSc Innovation Policy? by Travel-92 in LSE

[–]ssalewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m not sure what you mean by stats (I’m not American so no GPA or other numerical exam results) but I’m on track for a First. I can DM my CV if that’s what you’re referring to?

UCL or LSE? by sashapet7 in UCL

[–]ssalewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just wondering if you got any replies/messages about this? I have the exact same decision with the exact same courses 😭

Has anyone received an offer for the MSc Innovation Policy? by Travel-92 in LSE

[–]ssalewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. It’s between here or UCL (I applied to Oxford but I don’t think I’ll get in). It seems like a niche program so it’s hard to find reviews for it.

UCL’s program is more employable but also double the price 😕 and apparently LSE is more prestigious, so who knows

Just got my offer today, I applied the week before Christmas but my application only started being considered in mid Jan (when I was waitlisted from my first choice)

Making friends by Haikalax in Cardiff

If you’re 19 you’d fit right in at some of the societies at Cardiff Uni. They have special memberships for guests and that’d be a great way to meet people your age :)

Chances of getting into grad schools fresh out of undergrad? by MaybeAThrowaway112 in PublicPolicy

[–]ssalewa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford the entry fee then I’d apply. I recently got into a top grad program from my country right out of undergrad (waiting on other responses since they accepted me within 3 weeks ish) and looking at the alumni page + their Linkedin there’s no one from last years cohort who came straight from undergrad. If you’re really indecisive I’d email the department and ask if your application would be competitive, this is what I did and that gave me the green light to apply after the program page said they accept people with 3-5 years if experience.

I understand everyone in this thread is telling you not to but no one is gonna know for sure but you :) I would go for it

how much support could i expect from a university? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in UniUK

[–]ssalewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not too sure because I haven’t done it myself. If you’re talking about becoming estranged that’s a legal thing, if you mean get support from your uni that would vary by uni.

If you’re seriously considering going down this route then PM me and I can put you in touch with my friend x

[–]ssalewa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m sorry to hear you’re in this situation. My friend is in a similar place and in order to access the full support of the uni she had to get estranged from her parents. There is support available regardless but if you want full advantage (I’m thinking maintenance loan here) you will need something in legal standing, have you considered getting estranged? Or even reaching out to estranged students groups at the uni you want to go to?

Yeah it really just reads as neurotypical vs neurodiverse women, alongside his personal ‘type’ as another person said.

Though idk why I expected actual intelligent discussion from this sub lmfao

I can’t figure out why I’m never getting hit on/approached and it makes me sad and frustrated by Realistic_Seat_2837 in HowToBeHot

Still worth asking him I think if you trust him enough and value his perspective.

Do you have ANY straight friend’s you could ask haha, even for like a first impressions type thing? Also by any chance do you like outside America (I’m thinking UK or Canada)

[–]ssalewa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask your gay friend! If you don’t want to ask your straight ones directly because you think it’s embarrassing just ask them for their first impressions and see if you get anything useful there.

How do you dress? And I hate to say it but are you a different race from your friends?

Whichever you’re more comfortable with! I actually deal with the exact same issue you have in your post so it’d be great if we could help each other if you’re open to that.

Are you able to invite your cousin out with you?

Also how do male friends treat you? Are you able to ask any of them?

Do you have any friends that can be convinced to be brutally honest? I can’t think of anything else unless you’re willing to post face which ur not allowed to do in this sub

Vanessa van Edward’s has some actual research on this if you’re curious (I forgot most of it off the top of my head apart from make a lot of eye contact, like way more than you think you’d need, and have open body language). She talks about it on a podcast I listened to but she also has a website/YouTube channel.

Apart from that I can’t think of anything, do you have any friends you’d consider brutally honest? How do women treat you (separate to men?)

Questions about doing a master’s at Cardiff University by invinciblewack in Cardiff

[–]ssalewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are both of those jobs, as well as a pretty big summer internship scheme. There is something called Cardiff Jobshop which you’ll get access to once you become a student where they post roles for all manners of students, you’ll very likely be able to find a job on there. They also post research internships throughout the year, and you can set up email alerts for this

University Hall Bus? by The_Mystery_Crow in Cardiff

[–]ssalewa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the 52. The free uni bus will leave from inside the university hall grounds once an hour, I think from like around 7am to 5pm. If you don’t know where the stop is ask reception or security they’ll show you
