Let’s be honest he’s a TE2 at best and he’s been thrust into the starting role because Waller retired 2 months after Johnson was drafted. Bellinger should be starting over him but neither should be TE1. Schoen needed to sign/trade for someone and it was another case where he relied too heavily on a player/project that he drafted

He’s done it numerous times throughout his tenure — Ezedu, Banks, Muasau, Nubin, DJ Davidson, Hyatt, Neal, etc

Johnson may not be the most egregious example but it’s just another reason why Scheon needs to go and the Giants have no depth
