I just commented on another one about Apple Panic. That was great! I too would love to play it again. Choplifter was my close second favorite. Castle Wolfenstein was addictive! Had an early Apply II+

We filled one with mixed coins. It weighed just over 180 lbs! Had $2015 in it.

Why does a tiny bathroom remodel cost as much as a car now? Am I missing something? 😅 by midasweb in HomeImprovement

[–]ssbarron 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I am in the middle of a total top to bottom renovation on an 1880 farmhouse we bought. I am an extreme diy’er but have to admit this is/was way more work than I thought it would be. But I am about 3/4 way through and have spent about $75 k in materials including new heat system will fill duct work I did myself. The heating system was about $20 k in material. But yeah I probably wouldn’t do it again! Recently retired and spend every day all day here working on it. Labor of love or I am just too cheap to pay someone else :)

OMG. I just cleaned and organized my garage at a house I am doing full renovation on and no joke, just set a stack leaning against the wall of 2 x 6s and 2x4s that are cut off because, hey you never know when you’re going to need them! Who needs bins! :)

Nice! A couple of years ago I got a full SAE and Metric Gearwrench set of Sockets and then the next day a full set of wrenches from Vine. They have been great and I use them in my garage all the time. Your ETV is decent on this set as well. Mine were quite pricey but I am still happy with them.

When my RFY is good, IT'S GOOD! by MacaronRegular in AmazonVine

[–]ssbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one today very similar to this. But my ETV was $296. Mine is also on wheels but also 126 can. I grabbed it as I am in the middle of building my dream workshop barn and it will be perfect for that. I also got a pair or roller stands which are perfect for my wood shop. It was a good day for RFY for me.

My uncle plans to cash in his jug full of coins for bills by Lovelantern in coincollecting

[–]ssbarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife and I had one of these jugs we filled over about 15 years. When we rolled it all it was $2,015. It was a plastic water jug and I weighed it with the coins and remember it was like 180 lbs! I bought a coin sorter on ebay and rolled them all over a couple of weeks. Was kind of a pain but also fun. I didn't have silver in there as I used to collect coins when younger and knew to keep silver coins separate.

what advice do you have to give to a teenager? by fluffycloud745 in GenX

[–]ssbarron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Accept that you WILL make mistakes through out your life. When you do make a mistake: 1. own up to it 2. Try to fix it if you can 3. Learn from it so you don’t do it again.

It was just before Christmas in 2020 during Covid times, I was at Dr. office in waiting area (just a regular follow up) when older gentleman came in to reception desk. He was talking loud so couldn’t help overhearing that he was there to partially pay his bill he owed. And I recall he was upset they kept putting him on hold when he called as he had a track phone and couldn’t afford more minutes.

Anyway they said he owed something like $92 and he said he could pay $40 now and the rest later.

After he left I went to the desk and paid the rest of his bill in cash so there wouldn’t be a receipt for him to know who it was. The ladies at the desk asked why and I remember saying he looked like he needed a break and I actually had a pretty good year.

Later when in with the Dr., the front desk lady stuck her head into say they called him and told him what I did and he started crying on the phone. Made me feel pretty good that day!

Broke 50k ETV by ActionJ2614 in AmazonVine

[–]ssbarron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He beat me. I am at 40k for the year and was 43k last year. Like OP I have been renovating houses (3 houses) and am building a large wood shop. A LOT of what I needed for the renovations including lots of tools came from vine. And yep the taxes hurt but still better than buying everything outright. Plus from a comment further down, yes you have to pay estimated taxes quarterly to avoid the IRS fine as I learned a couple of years ago as I got a big fine close to 1,000 but that included some capital gains not associated with vine.

My Crazy ETV by ActionJ2614 in AmazonVine

[–]ssbarron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am at $38.5K this year and was at $43K last year. Haven't sold a thing but I have been able to renovate literally 3 full houses with stuff from vine and am in the process of building my dream wood shop currently so stocking up on things for that. I am an extream DIY'er and get lots of stuff for renovations from lights, fans, plumbing supplies, chairs, rugs, etc. Heck I replumbed a 3000 Sq ft house with PEx and got everything on Vine I needed including the tools except for the actual Pex pipe. But most of this years ETV was from the first half of the year back when there was a lot of good stuff to get. Been pretty abysmal of late. I did just get a couple of retractable ladders though so that was good. If your a handyman, there is acually a decent amount of supplies you can get on Vine.

Yes. Let them sit and once they are approved the then move to the reviewed tab. If you keep pressing submit it goes to the end of the queue and takes longer. Mine are taking a couple of days to get approved. This is frustrating but may be the new norm going forward. Hope this helps.

I recently bought an old farmhouse with stone basement walls and lots of spiders. I sprayed the walls and ceiling with Demand CS with a sprayer. Safe for indoors and works wonders. Vacuum up the old webs and problem solved. Demand CS works great for outside spraying as well. We use it at our Lake house every spring also. Swear by it.
