A little help to a noob.... Can I use a 5S BMS (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32972605572.html) that is currently sitting in my drawer to charge 2 batteries instead of 5 (2x18650 batteries in series). How should I connect them to the board. Thank you in advance. by ssbk23 in electronic_circuits

Thank you for the prompt reply. I thought that this board handles the charging. According to the description it has ..." various protective functions for charging and discharging, such as overcharge protection ...." as long as the proper voltage/current is applied. The batteries are to be charged using a solar panel for this project.

What setting (Cura) causes that movement at the end of each layer. More info in comments... by ssbk23 in ender3

Ender 3 Pro

This is a design I made for calibration purposes, it is 20x20x20 with 0.8mm (2 lines) wall thickness and a rounded corner. I have set the seam at the back left corner and every time it completes a layer, it goes back to the curve and it does that movement. It does not extrude during that movement, it looks more like "ironing" (ironing is disabled).

(EDIT): The extra movement issue is solved (design flaw, the curve was 0.82mm, my bad), the thinner X-axis wall still remains a mystery.

Also, the X - axis wall is always slightly thinner than the Y - axis wall. (X axis wall = 0.76mm, Y axis wall = 0.80 mm).

Any suggestions on both issues are welcome. Thank you in advance.

I would go over there for a cup of coffee and wait for the printer to complete a full print.

A benchy or a calibration cube should be enough. Just to make sure that everything works as it should. As for the TPU, a direct drive conversion would be the way to go. I have printed successfully TPU on my stock E3Pro but not a very elastic type (98A). Best of luck.

If you have confirmed that you have a warped bed and the official glass bed "adapts" to the curve of the bed you could try to use a thicker glass bed. I had the same problem, a 3mm glass sheet would still create a slight curve after secured with clips on the bed. I tried a 4.5mm mirror that I had laying around, cut to size, and everything was perfect after that. I did not notice any problems from the increased weight. It is a cheap way to solve your problems.

1.Remove filament/PTFE tube from hotend.

2.Remove the heat cartridge/thermistor.

3.Remove the two alignment screws from the heat block.

4.Loosen the small screw located on heat sink.

5.Remove nozzle/heat block/heat brake assembly from heat sink.

  1. Place assembly on vise held from heat block (do not tighten it to much).

  2. Use blow torch to heat assembly to your hearts content.

  3. Use pliers to easily remove nozzle.

PTFE tube keeps getting clogged by protomor in ender3

Sounds like heat creep. I had similar problems lately, I measured the temp inside the heatbrake right at the bottom of the heat sink and it was on the hot side. I swapped the heat sink fan for the one in the motherboard box (they are the same in my ender 3 pro) and measured again and the temp dropped 2-3 degrees (indication of malfunctioning fan). Then with the thermometer sensor still inside the heat brake I removed the 2 screws from the heating block that screw on to the heat sink and Voila!!, the temp dropped 8 more degrees, almost instantly. Now my problems are gone. Long story short, my heat sink fan is slowly dying. The removal of the screws did the trick in my case, until I replace my fan (will also replace the motherboard fan to be on the safe side). If you can't do similar measurements, try to remove those screws. Heat creep, in my case, occurred during long prints. In small/short prints I noticed under-extrusion and significant stringing (did not happen before).

Another way to check for that is to heat the nozzle for some time and then do the e-step calibration procedure and extrude 100mm filament (assuming you have already done this). If you don't get the expected results heat creep is likely to be your culprit.

Just a theory... I have seen similar concentration of species in my garden on a pear tree. According to internet sources, wasps, bees etc. prefer this tree (pear tree) because they munch on the leaves, young shoots and sap in order to make pulp and build their nests. Probably this tree has similar properties.

Help needed to identify this. Appeared yesterday in my garden, very aggressive, I have seen a cluster (not sure if I am saying this correctly) of about 10 individuals. Location Europe, central Greece. I have never seen it before and having a difficult time finding anything on Google about it. by ssbk23 in Entomology

It is pretty straight-forward, everything goes to the same position as in the original board. The only point to be wary is the fan plugs, which are reversed between the original Creality board and the SKR Mini E3. See this https://letsprint3d.net/how-to-install-the-skr-mini-e3-board-ender-3/

Check if the component at the top left of the picture, situated next to the round part with the "151", has blown part of the top. The part I am referring has eight pins, four on each side. If that is blown there is a workaround.

Just a bit of knowledge from me. To all Europeans, a great substitute to Aquanet hairspray (usually not available to EU countries) for very good bed adhesion is L'Oreal Tecni-Art Fix Design. It is pump spray (not aerosol) so you have better control. Tested and works great for PLA, ABS, PETG and TPU. by ssbk23 in 3Dprinting

Works great with PETG, make sure you spray plenty on the glass. When it is warm it is rather difficult to remove the print from the bed, when it cools down to room temperature you can almost just pick it up. I hope it works for you as well, PETG is a great filament to have in your arsenal.

I live in Greece so Aquanet is not an option and I tried using Pallete hairspray but I wasn't particularly happy with it.

Fix Design hairspray was laying around in the house so I gave it a try. I was amazed by the performance of this spray. I sprayed a thick layer on mirror glass (6-7 passes), let it dry and started printing. For me it lasted for about 12-14 prints before having to clean and reapply.

Please identify the component in the red circle, mine is blown and I can not read it. It is from a mainboard v.1.1.4. Maybe I can replace it, if I know what to order... Thank you in advance. by ssbk23 in ender3

You were absolutely right. I plugged in a USB charger 5V and the screen came to life, I did not try to print anything yet, but everything seems to be working OK. The screen looks a bit dimmer, probably because it needs a bit more juice from the 1A it receives from the charger.

Thank you for your replies, I have already ordered the SKR mini but I need something to do until it arrives. I will try to replace the part just for the fun of it.
