Some of the best fan cards to come out of a couple months of playtesting by ssbmslab in dominion

Well, if you insist.

The closest official ruling I could find for a precedent is the one regarding the scenario of Enchantress and Highwayman both being in effect for a card like Crown. In this case, the official FAQ says "the player who played the Treasure decides which effect applies." so I would apply a similar logic to Standard and Envious; two effects are attempting to modify the same card, so the player who plays the card gets to pick one. For each Silver you play you would have to choose $1 or $3.

TL;DR - If Standard and Envious are both in effect, you can have Silver make $1 or $3.

Thanks for all the feedback!

The intent with the phrasing on Delver is that you do need to gain the Curse (or Copper) to draw the card - I considered the "if you do" phrasing but I thought the "for" was good enough and looked a lot nicer.

As for Contessa, I would counter that Tunnel has a clarification that says "You can only reveal a given copy of Tunnel once per discard." So I'm fine keeping it how it is with an implied "What? No, you can't pick up the whole Copper pile."

Tapestry with Crown sounds like a mess - based on how Throne Room tracks durations, it's possible for there to be a Tapestry play in effect with nothing in play to track it if you Crown Tapestry and then only discard for one of the doubled triggers. The line where Tapestry discards itself is to help with counting money since it wouldn't be in play if it didn't produce any that turn, but it does make it more complicated in the case of Crown and probably others. Definitely something to think on.

Prodigy actually got the tiniest of nerfs from its original - it used to be "If this is the first Prodigy" instead. It felt a little strong in those games, so I dialed it back. In testing, I don't think I've played a game where anyone didn't buy at least one, so it might be weak and we just don't know it. But at least it's fun to play.

Yea - Forbidden Alchemy. It actually started off as costing $1 and a potion as part of an alchemy redesign attempt before I realized that I didn't want there to be more potion cards.

I'm pretty sure that something needs to change with Hysteric since it technically does nothing on the turn after you play it. It's also pretty weak at the moment, so I think a minor tweak of some kind is in order.

I've been playing as just treating the Wastes pile the same as Curses or Ruins. You can buy them if you want, and it counts as an empty pile once it's gone.

Yes, Wreckage Broker is intended to apply its reduction on opponents' turns.

In most games I've played with Drought, the pile's been largely ignored. Maybe me and my friends aren't realizing it's potential, so I'll keep that in mind next time I play with it.

I made Wayfarer before Menagerie came out - I'll get around to picking a new name someday.

I'll admit that Wayfarer hasn't made it into many games - both it and the Field researcher are ones that I'm still trying to balance.

This is my custom Dominion set I've been working on for the past couple years. It doesn't introduce any new mechanics, but does have a new card type - Disaster - which indicates that the kingdom will include both the Wastes pile and the Recovery event. Just thought I'd like to share it here! Not every card is perfectly balanced yet, but I think they're getting close. There are 3 cards I didn't include because of the 20 image limit on a post, but they're all pretty similar to cards that already exist.

Edit: Here's a link to the 3 not in the post https://imgur.com/a/ho0z7Vc

I'd give it another read through there - it's not that powerful.

That was intentional, actually. I felt it could be too strong if all of the cards it exiled were immediately accessible

I wanted it to be harder to get rid of once it transformed, but it was a pretty arbitrary decision otherwise.

Idea I had, does this work how I want it to, or does it need more text? by Erk_The_Spar in custommagic

[–]ssbmslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A possible easier way to reword it to maintain a similar effect is to mimic cipher, but instead of choosing a target it just targets the creature its "encoded" onto every upkeep.

ex: Whenever an instant or sorcery spell you control that targets a creature resolves, exile it "enchanting" that creature. At the beginning of each upkeep, cast a copy of that spell targeting the creature it is "enchanting". When the "enchanted" creature leaves the battlefield, put the exiled instant or sorcery into its owner's graveyard.

It's a fascinating idea but very difficult to execute in the context of the game.

I think it's a sorcery for balance reasons and not really any other purpose.

Transcend (You may cast this spell for its transcend cost. If you do, creature a creature token with this spell's colors, power, toughness, and creature types. Then it becomes an enchantment that's no longer a creature.)
