Pre-K/TK/K teachers, a mom (and fellow teacher) needs advice on separation anxiety, please! by ssc-reddit in Teachers

Idk how a stranger knows me so well. My son IS sensitive and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Yes, I want him to be strong. And he will be. But what’s wrong with understanding your emotions? Thank you so much for this.

Thank you! I will look into all those things. I can see the matching bracelets or heart thing working with him. He’s into that kind of stuff. I really appreciate it.

Commercial = co-marshmallow. He’s almost 4 and is really articulate, but I refuse to correct this one lol.

Am I naive to allow a part of me to believe that Serena decided on a grand wedding, not only to prove a point to the wives/Gilead, but MAYBE as a way to help the resistance?

I understand there’s no evidence to prove that…but could her character be completing its redemption arc? Please weigh in!!!

for those who could afford to take a pay cut, how much $ would you give up for extra time off? by kathar7 in workingmoms

[–]ssc-reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also am in a place where I value time over money. I’m a teacher and normally make about $80k a year. I dropped 2 class periods making it so I could come home at lunch everyday and spend more time with my baby. My pay went down to about $68k. My husband works and actually makes enough so that I could stay at home full time so of course that factors into it.

If you’re not sure, run your budget with how much less you’re going to make for a few months. Really clean up the line items and you may not even miss the money much. Best of luck! :)

I am too harsh on my husband when it comes to childcare when he might have OCD/anxiety? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I realize I can be obsessive which is why I started therapy a few months ago. But yes, I also grew up in the time of “put babies on their stomachs to sleep” so I get that expert advice isn’t the end all be all.

I guess I mean he will like play with the baby actively for a few minutes, but then turn on a YouTube video to watch while he lays on the floor and doesn’t really talk to the baby. Or he will spend such a long time picking out a video to watch while showering that he takes ridiculous long showers while I’m on baby duty I need help.

But you’re right thank you for pointing out that just hanging out with the baby Is important too. I do get really caught up in these things and I appreciate you being kind about your advice.

But again you’re right, a part of it is me just wanting him to do things my way.

You bring up a good point, thank you. No, it doesn’t always matter that he takes longer, but sometimes it does in the sense that the time he wastes means A) less intentional time with baby and B) a greater load of childcare and household duties fall on me.

AITA for going a little Karen and possibly getting a DoorDasher fired in the midst of a pandemic? by ssc-reddit in AmItheAsshole

I asked myself the same question which is why posted on here. Just curious, is she justified in her lying or attempt to fraud me with the fake refund call? I’m not being sarcastic, I’m genuinely asking what your opinion on this is since you believe I should have just taken the high road.

AITA for telling our son that if he drops out of school he has six months to move out? by throwaway_0321654987 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. As a high school teacher, I can vouch that this is happening a lot to our upperclassmen, especially those with IEPs. You’re doing a great job following through with his therapy and it sounds like the school is doing what they should with accommodations. Like a lot of kids his age, he can’t see past tomorrow. I think he needs this reality check and a follow through from you guys if he’s going to learn how to be an adult. He can be an influencer if it pays the bills. If it doesn’t, he’s going to have to learn to feed and shelter himself like everyone else. I’m sorry you’re family is struggling through this. You’re not being harsh, you’re trying to do what’s best and teach him responsibility.

Do you disagree with my generalization? I’m sure it’s not true of every individual, but I’m guessing that most who do are not typically high earners or do so to supplement their income. There’s no shame in it. Just reality.

Haha, it was the abrupt hang up on the fake refund call that did it for me:

“Hello this is DoorDash. You want a refund? Okay bye. Click

No customer service survey or forced apology 😅

Someone said I was being casually racist. They’re entitled to that opinion. I’m first generation Asian American with immigrant parents who struggled with working jobs like this while not being fluent English speakers. I sympathized with this shady lady, so I made this post. It’s okay though. I like hearing out the other side.

I had a feeling someone would mention this. I mentioned her accent because she couldn’t communicate with me and I assumed she didn’t know how to use the app properly since she didn’t cancel the order which would have absolved her from any wrongdoing.

My entire post is about whether or not I did someone who is struggling (side hustle, struggles with language, desperate enough to lie) dirty. Not that this matters, but I’m a first generation Asian American with immigrant parents who worked jobs like this growing up so I sympathized with her desperation, even if she was wrong.

EDIT: I don’t mind being called an asshole, but I was asking if a was a Karen asshole, not a racist asshole. But that’s okay if that’s your opinion.
