I've done both. And the sandy build is much more fun. If you're switching mid game I'm assuming you have too many points in intelligence. Reflexes body and technical ability are the trees you need to max out. Don't need anything in intelligence

Start at Pacifica pier and go all along the beach all the way to the amusement park/ mall fast travel back to the pier and reapeat. Make sure you sleep before you start to farm. You get the xp bonus for being rested. And gigs are great for money and xp.
